Things that turn/Turned 20 in 2019:

Futurama started
Family Guy started
Red Dwarf finished it's original run.
Shenmue
Beetle Adventure Racing!
Super Smash Brothers
Sonic Adventure
Ape Escape
Driver
Grand theft Auto 2
Donkey Kong 64
Napster launched
Slipknot released their Debut album
The first Coachella Music Festival in California.
Weird Al's Running with Scissors
F-F-F-F-F-Freestyler.
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
The Matrix
Office Space
Austin Powers
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.

1998 Was the best year to ever happen in gaming, but 1999 was the best year ever in terms of entertainment.
All of these things are no longer teenagers. and all us geezers who were there for it all and remember it all are all starting to go grey and starting to become concerned about our lawns, and people being on them.

So what makes you feel old in 2019?
For me all that stuff being 20 works, but the fact I've spent 15 years drunk probably doesn't help with aging.
The English language had deteriorated into a hybrid of hillbilly, valleygirl, inner-city slang and various grunts. Joe was able to understand them, but when he spoke in an ordinary voice he sounded pompous and faggy to them.

Things that turn/Turned 20 in 2019:

Shenmue
I always like to bring up the arcade in Shenmue when talking about things being old. Space Harrier was only 14 years old when Shenmue was released. Shenmue is now 6 years older than Space Harrier was when Shenmue was released.

Also Vice City was released in 2002 and set in 1986 which was 16 years prior to 2002. Now Vice City is 17 years old. So the release date of Vice City is now further away then the 80s were when Vice City came out!

It is crazy how much faster time seems to go when you get older. When I think of 2002 I think oh it wasn't all that long ago, but in 2002 something like 1996 seemed like forever ago. It is almost like 1996 seems just as far away now as it did to me in 2002. The Shenmue Space Harrier thing is a good reference to how far gaming has come. I'm still playing through the Shenmue I and II release that came out on PC last year. I've beat Shenmue 1 and am currently on 2. Anyways Shenmue is now 20 years old but is still an enjoyable game that can be played for hours. But in 1999 when Shenmue came out nobody was playing a 20 year old game from 1979. Heck even a 10 year old game from 1989 was seriously outdated at that point. 1989 compared to 1999 there was a HUGE difference in gaming. 1999 compared to 2009 was a pretty big difference although it was like we were still playing the same types of games just with vastly improved graphics. 2009 to 2019 is the smallest jump yet. I imagine 2019 to 2029 will be even smaller.

Counting Dcemulation I've been posting on these forums for almost 60 percent of my life! :whoa:

Yea definitely. It used to seem like ages from one year to the next. This article talks about it here
