The problem isn't the business. The problem is that Vince McMahon is an insane sociopath.

Considering what we heard about how Moolah and Buddy Lee operated pre McMahon the wrestling business has always been shady. But Vince has the power and the money to take care of the talent and clean the business up. Its only the talent themselves who aren't wilding out and sticking to playing video games that there isn't a mass of early deaths. Imagine the wrestling style they work now coupled with the heavy schedule and reliance on pills, recreational drugs and alcohol to get through their schedule. If they were partying hard like in the 80s there'd be tons of issues.

Ashley's brain is being donated for CTE research

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... study.html

That alone is alarming considering she only wrestled for about 2-3 years. Compare that to someone who wrestled longer if they do find she has CTE and that is a worrying prognosis. Especially for the talent now, like Alexa who has had multiple concussions we know about since being on the main roster.

The Rolling Stone thing Bix is referring to a Rolling Stone article on a high end escort service called Exotica 2000/Bella Models where FBI documents showed she was a prostitute for before WWE. She denied it was her but it was. I remember after her denial someone found the website (which has been taken down after the FBI case) and it was clearly her in the picture.

Apparently Ashley left WWE to look after her Daughter when she was sick. Her affidavit was submitted under the penalty of perjury, so if the insinuation is that she "lied" because she denied being an escort then that's not a good look at all. Are WWE saying this? WTF?. Why would she lie about that horrific sexual assault she endured?.

WWE doing "clean up" work posting an email she sent saying she apologised etc that's just reprehensible behaviour on their behalf. To my knowledge she wasn't out to sue WWE for millions of dollars, didn't even speak publicly about the horror she endured which would have picked up traction as part of the #MeToo movement. This company has absolutely no class at all and they'll create a narrative to protect their public image when a 39 year old ex employee took their own life and I believe the horrifying ordeal she endured sadly played a part and they did absolutely NOTHING about it, NOTHING. That genuinely disgusts me and her safety on that military base was their responsibility. It makes you wonder what else has gone down and they've hushed it up.

Meltzer said on WOR last night he's going to go in depth on her affidavit in the next newsletter, and it seems Bix is reading up on it for a Deadspin article, so maybe we'll know something. I think one of them or another writer needs to track down whoever Gary Hart is (obviously not the World Class Gary Hart) because if she was telling the truth he'd confirm the condition he found her in and what she told him. Also apparently Maria Kanellis knows something.

It's really harrowing to read. I don't see why Ashley would lie about something so horrific that she endured. She was part of the concussion lawsuit yes, but she could have just included those facts. The sexual assault allegations, she should have made a separate issue because that is incredibly important and WWE should have fought 110% with her to get justice.

I can't fathom of any reason why she'd lie and come up with a story this profound. I'm sure you've read it, so I won't repeat what she says but I was utterly repulsed what she sadly had to endure and WWE, especially Vinces reaction to basically sweep it under the rug.

I have no idea who the other Gary Hart is. I don't think the Gary we know would have stood idly by and did nothing. He'd have found the scumbag and kicked his ass. Ashley says that Jimmy Hart was also told I believe, along with Maria. I hope if this story does gain traction and charges are brought - wouldn't WWE be liable for some form of neglect?, plus along with the POS who did it who be hit with some charges and the woman who stood guard as an accessory.

The key to the defences prosecution is to find the Gary Hart and if he corrobates her story and Maria and/or Jimmy do too then that will further corroborate the allegations. Again I can't see why she'd lie about something so serious and in such detail. Had this been say Trish Stratus would they have had to press charges because she was more high profile or would she have had to keep quiet too.

It's just incredibly bad judgment on WWEs behalf they covered up a serious sexual assault of one of their employees and didn't even let her press charges. I do believe such a horrifying experience must have affected her mentally. It's truly disgraceful that a billion dollar company operates the way it does.

John Oliver called them out on it and there's been investigations into how Murder Inc, Death Row operated so why is WWE flying under the radar?. They should be totally ashamed on how they let an employee be drugged & raped whilst under their duty of care and should be held accountable.

I hope Dave and Bix treat the allegations with respect. They don't seem to have any financial motivation behind them, otherwise they'd have been made separated and brought to mainstream attention during the height of #MeToo. We know Vince protected Snuka after he allegedly murdered his girlfriend so it's not the first time he's hushed things up.

It sadly won't bring her back but I genuinely do hope Ashley's daughter and her family get justice and those responsible punished to the fullest extent of the law. If Maria does know the truth I hope she speaks up for her friend. Judging by her tweets I have a hunch she definitely will

Could it be this Gary Hart?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Hart

Someone on Reddit saying it's "Playboy" Gary but I believe that's incorrect, as he retired in 1999 and only come back in 05 for MLW. To my knowledge he never worked with McMahon Jr.

It's not the politician or the manager Gary Hart. The former Senator was a college professor at the time and the wrestling Hart never did anything for WWE besides give one interview to them for the Rise and Fall of World Class DVD. His shoot interview with RF would have been around a year or so after the incident but he says on it he never worked for WWE.

Come the fuck on. Are we all really *that* surprised that the biggest carny promotion of a business built on working marks has found new lows to sink to?

I feel sorry for her and her child. *THAT* is the fucking tragedy here. Those posts from her daughter broke my heart.

Thanks Bandit. And Oce, in this instance, this is the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Yes we know Vince is carny af, but this tops anything he's done, "allegedly" or otherwise. His blasé attitude of don't let this tarnish the relationship between WWE and the military is truly deplorable. Ashley had to hide this secret for all those years where WWE had an obligation to protect her and support her 110% in her ordeal. But Vince sat back and did nothing.

I feel incredibly sorry for Ashley for the horrific assault she went through and for how she sadly took her life at just 39, and also for her Daughter and the entire Massaro family. This again tops the list of scumbag things WWE and McMahon Jr has done. Vince McMahon should be ashamed but he's so messed up he probably doesn't even care.

Also why should Ashley have apologised to them?. That's total and utter BS. The only way McMahon and WWE can save face now is by having an investigation into the sexual assault and a successful prosecution of the low life scum involved. Then THEY wholeheartedly apologise to Ashley's daughter and her family.

I really hope this story makes major media outlets and they lose their sponsors, fans quit watching and buying tickets/merch and the Fox deal flops. They don't deserve another cent from the fans as their behaviour in this instance is beyond any logical comprehension. They lack any form of human decency whatsoever and that is beyond reprehensible. How Ashley Massaro was treated here when she was subjected to a horrifying sexual assault was just unbelievably callous, heartless, cold, insensitive, cruel and you could even say downright evil.

Don't hold your breath. They've been dealing with scandals that would have brought down a real sports league since 1983. Murder, drugs, steroids, rape, sexual harassment, killing an employee through negligence, too many deaths of former wrestlers to name, and Benoit. This won't be the straw that broke the camel's back. They're invincible because the media thinks they're a joke, just a dumb show for kids and poor people.

But and I've stressed this before, they are a publicly traded company, with shareholders. They cannot continue to fly under the radar and operate as they do. This ain't a Mom & Pop store, nickel and dime wrasslin promotion. It's a billion dollar company. They have had a 39 year old ex-employee just commit suicide and had an affidavit appear online detailing a horrific drugging and sexual assault, which they, and specifically Vince McMahon covered up.

If this was any other sports organisation like you say they'd be done a long time ago. This story has to picked up by major outlets and WWE has to be held accountable. They, specifically McMahon Jr, are an absolute disgrace and should be ashamed of themselves. I can't fathom in any possible way WWE can be defended in this scenario because it's utterly indefensible, covering up a sexual assault of an employee, who they had a duty of care to protect whilst at the military base. They are morally bankrupt, seemingly devoid of any human emotion.

Had this been Stephanie, his own Daughter, would Vince have done the same thing he did with Ashley and brush it aside like it never happened?.

The important question is, why would she lie about a sexual assault as part of a CTE/TBI concussion lawsuit?. She could have made this a totally separate case altogether which it should have been. Jimmy Hart in his tour diary of the time reports Ashley staying behind and seeing a doctor or words to that affect so that point can actually be proven. Apparently Ron Simmons was also told about the assault, as were Jimmy, Maria and Gary Hart.

Ashley told Ron Simmons, Jimmy Hart, Gary Hart and Maria Kanellis, so in actuality, she did "report it".

They've been public for 19 years. People in the media don't care about wrestlers.

The "Gary Hart" in question is actually Gary Davis

https://www.prweek.com/article/1249613/ ... unications

https://thewalrus.ca/2004-11-field-notes-3/
WWE also announced that Gary Davis, formerly VP of corporate communications, is now VP of global public affairs. In his new role, Davis will conduct outreach to community, philanthropic, government, and business entities and develop corporate responsibility programs
From the tour diary which specifically states that Ashley was sent to the medical centre and seen by doctors.

We are all starting to feel the effects of the heat. In order to deal with the hot climate, we are told to keep drinking water constantly. Even then, sometimes the heat can overcome you. At the next autograph session, Ashley begins to swoon. Our base escorts demand she be taken to the Medical Center, despite her protests to the contrary. While doctors check her out, we proceed to our next destination, Camp LSA’s Mess Hall, where we meet the base commander, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Eichhorn, for lunch. Camp LSA is right next to Ali Al Salem and is the last stop before military personnel leave the country for well deserved R&R or return home to the U.S.A. There can be up to 2,000 troops a day at Camp LSA getting prepped for their return home.
And yea I know that are WWE have been a publicly traded company since October 19th 1999.

According to the new Observer, the people on the 2007 trip denied Masarro ever told them she was raped.
