This will be pulled soon, but what a great match from last night. That's 3 classic main events in a row from NJ.

An update on the situation with Katsuyori Shibata. Unfortunately the news appears to be very bad and that the injuries are not storyline. This is not 100 percent because there are many situations historically where this could be just storyline or a cover for something else, but it appears this is the case and that a combination of dehydration and the trauma of the legitimately skull-on-skull head-butt hospitalized him and at this point it is believed he will never be cleared to wrestle. He is currently in the hospital and is awake, can carry on a conversation, has some memories of the match itself. He initially had some right side paralysis but that is getting better.
Meltzer looks bad here because he's been arguing with people on Twitter all week that thought it was real. An injury angle wouldn't even make sense since Okada is a babyface. Naito would have work injured him since he's the top heel.

Sumo wrestling legend, former MMA fighter and current pro wrestler Akebono had a serious medical scare this past week.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted in a daily update that Akebono was taken to a hospital last Tuesday night after a show in Fukuoaka, Japan for the DDT promotion. Although we’re still looking for more information as to what happened, he was reportedly placed in a medically induced coma and is expected to remain in the hospital for at least ten days.

We’ll keep you updated on Akebono’s heath and current condition as more information becomes available.

WWE fans may remember the sumo icon for his appearance at WrestleMania 21, where he defeated Big Show in an unofficial sumo match. He also worked a tag team match alongside Big Show at a WWE house show in Japan later that same year, just one month before officially beginning his pro wrestling career. Akebono started out in All Japan Pro Wrestling and shortly thereafter signed a deal with New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he worked against the likes of Keiji Mutoh, Brock Lesnar, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Masahiro Chono in his first year with the promotion.

DDT is doing a gimmick where they have an English tutor because people want to be hired by the WWE. But he's a heel because he teaches them obscene and embarrassing phrases, and physically assaults students he gets frustrated with.

Dave gave Omega/Okada #2 6.25 stars. The net is going nuts over it.

I think she was supposed to be at WM 7 or 8 but canceled because she was getting divorced from Tom Arnold.

50-year-old Japanese pro wrestling legend Yoshihiro Takayama is reportedly paralyzed from the neck down, after an injury suffered during a match back in May. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted this weekend that he took a bad bump during a sunset flip that landed him in the hospital, and now three months later is able to speak but has zero movement from the neck down.

Takayama is one of two men in history to have held New Japan Pro Wrestling’s IWGP Heavyweight Championship, All Japan’s Triple Crown Heavyweight Championship and Pro Wrestling Noah’s GHC Heavyweight Championship. He is also well known for his incredibly brutal PRIDE fight against Don Frye in 2002, which has gone down in the books as one of the greatest showcases of combat sports ever.
Weird that with all of the dangerous bumps they do in Japan safe spots like a draping DDT and a sunset flip are what has paralyzed people this year.

I haven't seen it yet. But apparently Meltzer thinks today's Okada/Omega match was even better than the other two and will rate it 7 stars because he probably came on himself 7 times watching it (1 got 6 stars and 2 got 6.25 stars.)

I'll watch it tonight, but I find it very hard to believe it could be better than their second match. But Dave is marking out.

It definitely wasn't as good as the second one, but pretty damn great. And Omega/Naito was incredible as well. I hope Kenny gets some time off because his body must be destroyed from the G1 tour.

It turns out he and Naito are wrestling again in 4 days on the ROH UK tour. Omega must be the toughest man in the world.
