But when he lives in a bubble and does things like this it negatively affects WWE. WWE arguably is a corporate entity now they are a multi million dollar company which is publicly traded with shareholders. They also are marketed as family entertainment yet they are honoring some who's deplorable abhorrent behaviour shouldnt be celebrated but met with scorn. So in Vince's mind a few more years and Benoit gets a HOF nod? Or does he comprehend the severity of what he did. How long before Hulk is back? I wouldn't be surprised if he's back at Mania.

Benoit wasn't in the inner circle like Moolah. HHH liked him but Vince and Stephanie never thought much of him. He will stay where he's at in WWE history.

With Hogan, who knows. Vince could wake up one day thinking of fond memories of him in the 80s and call him up. Or he could be gone forever. It's 50-50.

As soon as I saw that video package I knew Bix was probably jumping to his computer to write about it.

It's going to be the first Wrestlemania match in history everyone involved offers to lose.

Dave Meltzer wrote:The idea of a women’s Battle Royal to get everyone on the show had been planned all along. The issue was the Moolah name. In recent years, due to a number of interviews with women who worked for her and were part of her stable, as well as those who have gone through history, Moolah’s reputation took a major hit. Women wrestlers being sent places to earn money bot by working but also by sleeping with promoters and talent most definitely did not start with Moolah, but there are too many people who publicly will talk that it didn’t end with her either. There are numerous accounts and stories out there.

WWE last year chose to go overboard in celebration the life and promoting the death of Jimmy Snuka, literally as the ink was drying on a judge throwing out his potentially going to trial for the death of ex-girlfriend Nancy Argentino due to his health deteriorating and the feeling he was no longer mentally competent. How WWE handled the death was going to be touchy and criticized no matter what, and I felt leeway in a unique situation would probably be the best reaction. But I ended up being shocked with just how hard they lionized him, and granted, he had family with the company, but it was just way overboard, including sending out a mailer to network subscribers about celebrating the life of Snuka with selected matches.

They also used the name of the Ultimate Warrior for their co-promotion with the Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity, even though Warrior both celebrated it happening and mocked Bobby Heenan as he was battling cancer. They did name an award after him which didn’t get nearly he negative reaction, but the cancer thing had a raw nerve with a lot of people, particularly since it was in the same year that Heenan had passed away.

Had the NFL or NBA or MLB, or a major entertainment network, done something like that, they’d be excoriated in the media. But WWE’s media is still mostly underground, although there is some mainstream, such as Forbes and Deadspin that was critical of the decision, and there will likely be follow-up. There was a lot of Twitter outrage on WWE’s account, but everyone running companies has pretty much gotten immune to Twitter outrage. The reality is the next night on Smackdown, WWE doubled down, repeating the glowing video of Moolah as a trailblazer for women athletes, comparing her with the likes of Babe Didrikson Zaharias and Althea Gibson. Still, this would be the equivalent of baseball naming a new award after Ty Cobb. The video also got her real name wrong, calling her Lillian Ellis instead of Lillian Ellison.

If the controversy caused them to even consider rethinking the decision, the video of her a second time would not have aired.

But WWE has always reinvented history. In its history, the Babe Ruth and Joe DiMaggio of women’s wrestling were Moolah and Mae Young, who were seen as lovable grandmothers in the late 90s attitude era. In her defense, wrestling itself was a very sleazy cutthroat industry and women’s wrestling was, if anything, often a sleazier subset of it. In such an industry, Moolah was able to survive and keep control for decades. Mildred Burke, the top woman’s star before Moolah, had her detractors as well. Still, when top class reporters like Frank Deford and Jeff Leen heavily investigated her life, after her death, they both came to the conclusion she was an overall sympathetic character. Burke was a pioneer, far bigger star in her day, and responsible for the early boom period of women’s wrestling, which turned into a bust during the Moolah years and it really wasn’t until the last 15 or so years, and mostly the past few, where it has turned around. But Ellison was always close with Vince McMahon’s father, and she sold her world title belt to the current Vince McMahon when he expanded in 1984 and became part of the family. But it really would have been far healthier to name it after Trish Stratus, someone who the current group of wrestlers on the roster really did grow up watching.
I don't think Trish would have worked, since you can't name something after someone alive and young. The Chyna Battle Royal would be ideal since she was famous for being the first woman in the Royal Rumble in 2000.

And speaking of Chyna, unless they call this off they have absolutely no choice but to induct Chyna next year. They will look like complete vindictive assholes if they don't, since porno >>>>>>>>>> pimping.

-- The WWE Network will begin adding episodes of WCW Saturday Night next week to the Vault section for VOD viewing. The current plan is to add the remainder of Mid-Atlantic Wrestling TV in May.

Sweet. That was the best wrestling show on television until the Monday Night Wars. So many great Arn Anderson matches.

Meltzer said Hogan's claim Andre always stiffed Savage because he hated him was completely false from people he's asked about it who'd know. They confirmed he really did that to Iron Sheik because they always had heat with each other, but didn't know why Hogan was claiming that about Savage. But the person Andre stiffed the worst was Bam Bam Bigelow because he disrespected him thinking Andre was just an old guy on his way out.

Show was mostly about how Ric's friends from the insane asylum came to visit him at Nitro and they did lots of awful comedy with them goofing around backstage. Like Ric actually in the asylum had some funny moments like him teaching them how to dance like him, but this show just had dumb stuff like the patients getting yelled at for clogging up toilets with massive dumps and trying to run production.

Luckily I have no recollection of that. I vaguely recall Naitch being locked up but didn't know they had the "patients" visit him. I'd be much surprised if that wasn't a Russo storyline. Probably saw One flew over the cuckoos nest and thought "Imma parody that bro".

I never saw it. The movie was shown once on NBC and got such negative feedback they pretended like it never existed. Dave Meltzer savaged it in his review obviously.
