The theory is the NWA stuff that's left isn't much they can do with. Like they've never put Lou Thesz over so that doesnt matter to them. That streaming service didn't have anything that really impressed me. If they wanted it they'd have bought it 5 years ago.

Yea but there's still a historic value to it. It's like if they did get footage of Lou Thesz et al they'd reference him and induct him into the Hall of Fame. Anyone outside of the WWE realm who succeeded where they don't have tape of them hasn't had their rightful due. Rikidozan for example drew one of the highest rated shows ever in Japan with Freddie Blassie and was a big wrestling star in Japan too but you won't see or hear anything about him on WWE programming and in books. Same with Lou Thesz, only the Lou Thesz press was referenced on TV but unless you know wrestling history no one would know who he was. So point being the NWA name although not really a big deal now historically it was.

At this point I'm thinking I could get some of my adopted daughter's friends and start a backyard promotion and be more successful than TNA.

Regarding Jeff Jarrett, his official departure from Impact announced today had nothing to do with what happened over the weekend as we had heard late last week that the decision was being made and was more or less final and about to be announced.

What happened was Jarrett was to work shows in Calgary and Edmonton this weekend for Real Canadian Wrestling (we had mistakenly called it River City Wrestling yesterday as our first report just came in as RCW). He showed up in Calgary, in no condition to perform although he did do a match and it was said to be similar to his performance at TripleMania. The promoter said he didn't know Jarrett was in such bad shape until the match started but others there said that couldn't be the case because it was clear backstage. He told the promotion that he was held at customs and was told he had to return the next morning and would have to miss Edmonton. The promotion later found out that Jarrett rebooked his flight from Sunday morning to Saturday morning and left before the Saturday night show in Edmonton. The promotion said that Jarrett boarded a plane and left the country on his own accord Sunday morning and later said Jarrett "chose to leave the country due to his own issues."

I didn't think he was that bad. Obviously he was drunk, but I've seen a lot worse over the years. If Jake Roberts at Heroes of Wrestling was a 10 he was a 4.

He said he asked for it because he was tired of not being used.

Canadians can get paid $50 to watch Impact for 4 hours. A hard night's work.

Apparently there was a little over 100 people at the Impact tapings and half of them were paid to be there.

TNA isn't bad, it's just that there's so much wrestling to watch it's just an afterthought. Being terrible for so long and being on a network nobody cares about hurt it. But the rise of streaming wrestling services also hurt it. When you get off of work and have 3-5 hours to watch something before going to bed, is it going to be something you know is good or wondering if maybe TNA can hold on to someone long enough between tapings to keep an angle going. They're just an indie at this point. Guys come and go so don't get too invested.

well once again a TNA PPV pisses all over the WWE ones from a great height. 2 mayor standouts being the 5150 street fight & the monsters ball of course, some thoughts:
X-division - fun one to start with I thought, probably coulda guessed the end steal before the match though

Monsters Ball - hey WWE this is what a hardcore type match looks like, Grado's Foley top was a nice touch & for a guy that plays the fun loving good guy Grado did pretty damn good I thought. All the usual bits were there from the cheese grater to Janice, Rosemary showing up was nicely unexpected as well with a good moment of 'hey Grado's just been given a great chance to win' I just hope it aint the end of the Grado v Park/Abyss angle

Impact v AAA - not a lot to say, it was decent but following the Monsters Ball anything wouldnt look as good as it otherwise might, amusing to hear the mike pick up ECA telling Storm 'Kick his fucking head off' which made me chuckle

5150 street fight - the other big one in the show & while it wasnt as bloody as the Monsters Ball it was still great fun to watch

Knockouts championship - Alley was damn fine & also showed some fine improvement over when she started but it was sort of inevitable that Gail Kim would be going out on top after this one as uts her last outting at a BFG

Cage match - who would have thought the att guys would pile in during this one? oh right everyone, it wasnt the strongest match of the night but was OK

Impact championship - well this one was going great, despite the expected interference from Drakes buddy, the ending though was wrecked by Patron
