Doesn't really document much, far from ultimate.

But I watched it all, despite some really annoying personalities who I've never heard of.
Who could forget Black guys hands, dude looks like a lady, Emo gamer girl WITH BOOBS, American gameshow host, pretty metal guy with weird ear piercings, annoying dreamcast man who wears a hat with his channel name on it, And not to mention poor mans Jim Sterling, he was the most annoying, forgettable of them all.

The Aussie guy actually seems pretty decent, as does beardy, I'd watch their other videos. I Could watch metal guy with weird ear piercings if he didn't have those mad ears.

Good old Ashens saved it. I've been watching a shitload of Ashens since I stopped doing things.

Does anyone here have experience with video capturing from retro consoles? I've been looking into it, and getting mixed results as to what to get. Do any of you own capture devices, if so what do you use, and what is the quality of the output?

I'm not interested in emulation, I know I can emulate anything and software capture, But I still want to enjoy the games which requires original hardware, and most capture things I've seen do composite decently enough (hell even my old TV tuner did composite well enough) but I'm interested in component and VGA which is where things get confusing. (Xbox, dreamcast, wii/cube)

I think most Youtubers use the Elgato Game Capture, although I don't know if that does VGA.

I know they have a device with component inputs, but I don't know how well VGA to component would work. Back a few years now Avermedia had the Game Broadcaster HD, it had VGA, but it was discontinued and I missed the sale.
I want to record and go for the crazy Taxi Original map world record.

I guess I'll have to try the VGA to component method and see how well it works (I don't want to shell out $350 for an actual professional capture card if I can avoid it) So if no one here has first hand experience, I'll get the Avermedia DarkCrystal C027 for $99 and a VGA to component adaptor and see if it works good enough, if not I'll have to grab an actual professional card :olol:

That's a little too much for something without native support for what I want, if it's just an experiment, I want it to be cheap. :olol:

I'm more likely to go for something that's $350 that I know will work perfectly if my cheap experiment fails. (and will work perfectly for DVI, DP, VGA, HDMI, Component and composite with custom resolutions as well (actual professional products can do fucking everything :olol: )

For that kind of money I'd want computer capture as well ;)

Also, if I made Alex Kidd videos, I'd call it Alex the kid to piss off everyone including myself. :olol:

I'd do a whole series of Alex the kid games. My master System is dead, but there's a cheap one on ebay with a busted controller that I'm trying to get, since I have a controller.

Edit: I also already have a dreamcast VGA box.. it's not a fancy aftermarket one like EVERYONE on youtube uses, it's a genuine Sega VGA box, which I've never seen ANYWHERE. I'm pretty sure I got it of Prophet for a reasonable price, and since all the collectors don't even have one I'm sure it is worth a fucking tonne of cash, I should ask him where he got it. :olol:

I've got a Rocket, If you want to capture N64 stuff. You could use an S-Video to Component lead.

Its a shame that they don't do those HDMI adapters that you can get for Wii and PS2.
