surely one with the old recoloured Vic 20 case would have been a more appropiate image for them to have used

I miss my commodore 64. All those times I had to type LOAD"*",8,1 and hit return
I've since learnt that I had basically everything for it before my mum got rid of it while I was at school one day. Had the tape drive, 2 models of floppy drives, mouse, official Joystick and paddle, printer, monitor, and a whole box of stuff that I didn't know what they were, or how to use them because they weren't games. years later I learnt that box was modems, cartridges, serial cables, and all sorts of busses and connectors that I never understood when I was given it.
I distinctly remember hating games on tape. And the only 2 games I'd even bother to play today are head over heels and wizball. Fucking love those games!

Re: Retro Gaming Thread
So Head Over Heels came out when I was 5 months old, I played it when I was about 9 or 10. It would have been late 96 or early 97. I remember we got our first Family computer in late 95, I took an interest in it so a little bit after that I was given the Commodore stuff because it was "too old" for my mums best friends relatives.
They gave me a 10 minute crash course to load disks and I was away with my boxes of commodore stuff.
Much enjoyment was had for years from it. The monitor packed it in early 2001, I didn't even know a normal TV would work at the time, and by that time I was already a bit into the Dreamcast and enjoying the last legs of my Nintendo 64 anyway, so I boxed the lot up carefully and put it all in the bottom of my cupboard. (except for the monitor which got dumped under the house)
2 years later, I came home from school one day and it was all gone, along with some of my other Retro Sega magazines.
I was fucking furiously livid. And a further incident with my copy of Perfect Dark shortly after Prompted me to put a lock on the door.(Mum took perfect dark and gave it to my little brother to play. In 2 hours he had crushed the box which I had taken care of and kept in mint condition) And the lock was not one of those privacy lock things, IE: break in with a paddle pop stick. It was a full blown front door entry lock and was locked every single time I was not in my room, even if I was going to the toilet or having a shower the door would be locked. After 3 years it was only locked when I left the house, after 4 years I told my dad where the spare was hidden, and moved it when he died. And to this day I have not told my Mum or brothers where the spare key is.
Moral of the story is, I loved my C64. And 14 years after it was stolen from me, I still don't trust my family with my stuff.

The guy mentions GEMs in those Megadrive Profile vids I posted a while ago. Amazing that SoA actually gave it the nod.
Fortunately most Jap and EU Devs used their own software and drivers.

Funny how he ended up working for EA, who massively sandbagged Sega back then.
