samsung 850 evo 250gb msata ssd and a hitachi 500gb 7200rpm 2.5" hdd for this MSi laptop.

once again went to buy a god damn am4 motherboard and no one had stock of what I wanted (gigabyte ab350n itx) on that side of town... like the 5th time I've gone to buy a board and it's out of stock now :angryevil: :angryevil:

one day I will do this ITX build. :olol:

Just the thought of going anywhere in town and being able to buy a motherboard is crazy, let alone having multiple places to choose from. The nearest place that has any computer parts beyond hard drives and video cards is 50 miles from me.

Ordered a second Raspberry Pi to set up as a VPN gateway for PIA. So that way I can encrypt data for any device I want on the network (like phones and tablets) without blocking stuff that doesn't work on a VPN (like the Roku for Netflix).

I'll order everything online and wait for it, except tech. As soon as I know what I want, I want it that day and it's pissing me off so much not getting an am4 system, so fuck it for now. I'll try other suburbs next time. :) 20 computer shops within an hour from me, I was just on the wrong end that day (west, south and southwest. I'm in the north east)

in other news, logitech g810 (ANOTHER ONE) $120.

Corsair H100i $60
Armaggeddon Licht Dagger fan $12
Ritmo 5.25" DVDRW enclosure $1

Well my next build (finally the ITX I've wanted to do for years) Doesn't have space for an optical drive, and won't fit my H110i, but I would still like to use discs sometimes, so todays trip fixes that. Just gonna chuck my LG bluray burner in it and the h100 works on am4 out of the box.

(I'll be building in a corsair 380T, and am hoping to grab a motherboard and video card in the next few days) :cow:

Gigabyte GA-AB350N-gaming Wifi. $150 posted.
Found stock locally, they wanted $195 dollaredoos!! so when a like new 8 week old one came up on OCAU, I needed it.

Now to decide on RAM and CPU. Probably grab a 16GB 3200 G.Skill Ripjaws V kit and a Ryzen 5 1600. (unless I can find a used 7 1700 for $320 or less which is the price of a 5 1600)

AMD Ryzen 5 1600 $278
AMD A12 9800 $139
2 Thermaltake SMART PRO RGB 650W PSU's $80 each

Next paycheck (I get paid fortnightly) will probably be an Intel i9-7900X for $1259 or AMD Threadripper 1950X for $1399 because fuck it I've always wanted to spend an entire paycheck on a single computer component..

Seagate ST8000AS0002 Archive v2 8 TB 3.5-Inch Hard Drive £198.72 (newer version was over 100 more, think I can live with an older model for that saving)

Asus Crosshair VI Extreme
AMD ryzen 7 1800x

This board is bloody nice.. I now have to buy a new EVERYTHING to go with it... all of my components don't seem worthy of plugging into it.

Picked up a free computer from a rubbish pile across the road. Got home and saw the pile right as a guy walked up to it.. DAMN I thought, missed it in the 25 minutes I was out getting lunch..

guy took a single 19" dell widescreen and left the computer and bag of computer cables and stuff there.

grab it, the other monitor, bag of cables, and an IBM laptop bag and get it all home.. it's a second gen i7 in a nice antec case, 650 watt psu, blu ray combo, wd black 1tb hdd, some kind of geforce (with 2 6 pin connectors) and at least 8gb of ram..

if this works (or even a simple fix) this will be my 3rd best computer score ever!

will clean it up tomorrow and see how we go (and what cpu and gpu it's got)

This rubbish PC is a god damn 2700k
Standard generic budget gigabyte Z68 board.
Gtx 660ti
8gb of low profile kingston 1333 ram.
PSU is actually 700 watt thermaltake.
And lots of free dust!!!
did I mention the cpu is an i7 2700k? Absolute beast processors. Will try push it to 4.2 ghz

throw some 2000mhz RAM and a 970, 1070 or even a 980 in it and it's a bloody good computer.

Why would someone throw that out? Is it an upscale neighborhood?

It's not the swankiest of neighbourhoods, but far from bad. People who want a nice backyard but still close to the city move here.. Or people who want to buy a big block relatively cheap (a million bucks) split said big block into 4-8 units and sell each one for $650,000-800,000

The computer booted, and had linux on it and from the files and history I found still on the drive it became clear why it was thrown out.. If I had a 6 figure salary I'd probably throw it out too and focus on selling my eyesore house for $1,100,000 after I bought it OUTRIGHT for $670,000 4 years ago!

Meanwhile I am enjoying restoring my rubbish.. can probably sell it for $300-400 when it's all cleaned up.

I was mistaken about the specs, it's actually 16gb of RAM. second set of sticks were turned off in bios
