Dead Rising 4, State of Decay 2 tipped for Microsoft E3 reveal

Let's be Frank.

It looks like Microsoft will unveil two undead-themed sequels at E3 this year: Dead Rising 4 and State of Decay 2.

Artwork and screenshots for Dead Rising 4 appeared online last night, originally on ThisGenGaming. Its announcement would hardly be a surprise: Dead Rising 3 was one of the better-selling Xbox One launch titles.

Like its predecessor, Dead Rising 4 will apparently be allied to Microsoft's console - although a Windows 10 version is also said to be in development.

Images show Dead Rising 1 protagonist Frank West in a familiar setting - although the usually-reliable source Ekim has suggested it'll be a revised remake of Dead Rising 1, albeit with four-player co-op and an expanded map.

State of Decay 2 has also been tipped for unveiling, by both Kotaku's Jason Schreier and NeoGAF.

The original State of Decay was incredibly popular on Xbox 360, and has already gained PC and Xbox One ports. Published by Microsoft, a full sequel is a no-brainer.

Reports suggest this follow-up will be fully online, a feature the original noticeably lacked.

Microsoft's press conference is due to start at 5.30pm UK time next Monday, 13th June. We'll be reporting live from LA with all the announcements. And check out our full schedule of E3 conferences.

Looks like they've added a fair bit but that doesn't sound like Frank :( They also should have made him look like he did in DR1. I'll still get it, that's not my Frank though :(

Dead Rising 4 is Microsoft-exclusive for a year

But what about after that?

Dead Rising 4 will be exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10, but only for a year.

Developer Capcom Vancouver tweeted "You'll be able to play it first on Xbox One and Windows 10."

Journalist Ryan Brown offered further clarification on Twitter where he stated "Capcom rep says that Dead Rising 4 is a 1-year timed exclusive for MS."

This comes as a surprise, since Dead Rising 3 remained exclusive to Xbox One and PC. Comparatively, the first Dead Rising received a Wii port, while the second was released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

Set in Willamette, Colorado, Dead Rising 4 returns to the original game's protagonist Frank West, a photo journalist with a penchant for zombie slaying. You can now take selfies of Frank showing off his crazy holiday among the dead.

Dead Rising 4 is due out for Xbox One and PC this holiday.

So long as it's as good as the first DR, or better, then I will be happy.

Dead Rising 1 and 2 Officially Headed to PS4, Xbox One, and PC

Three games are headed to consoles, and one to PC.

Following a leak that suggested the original Dead Rising was on its way to PS4, Capcom has confirmed that and much more.

"Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4, and PC," the publisher said in a statement shared with GameSpot. "In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4."

Unfortunately, it didn't offer any details beyond that, including whether these would be remastered versions. It said it would share more details "soon."

Both Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record are already available on PC, whereas the original Dead Rising is not. With Capcom confirming a PC launch for only Dead Rising 1, it stands to reason these are ports, not remasters, but that's merely speculation at this point.

All three are open-world games where you can use all manner of weapons (be it a baseball bat, bench, stuffed animal, or stuffed animal you've equipped with an assault rifle) to defend yourself from huge hordes of zombies. Off the Record is a remake of Dead Rising 2 that inserts Dead Rising 1 protagonist Frank West into the game and adds new content.

The prospect of Dead Rising coming to PS4 was evidenced when PS4 Trophies for the game were discovered online; this would mark its first appearance on a PlayStation platform. Meanwhile, the upcoming Dead Rising 4 is only headed to Xbox One and PC when it releases this December.

Dead Rising's release date has been revealed by Xbox

The release date for Dead Rising's rerelease on PC, PS4 and Xbox One has been released on the Xbox Store. On Xbox one game is said to be 8.08GB in size, as well as release a few HD screenshots for the game. The game will be coming to Xbox on September 13th, with PC and PS4 versions being expected on the same day.

Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will also be making its way to both the Xbox One and PS4, though PC versions of these games already being available to purchase on Steam.

Capcom will be bringing Dead Rising to Xbox One, PS4, and PC,
In addition, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will make their way onto Xbox One and PS4.

Right now these new games look like they will be a straight up HD rerelease, with minimal changes being made to each game for their release on current generation consoles.

Hopefully, Dead Rising will release on PC with a solid PC port, without any framerate limits, and with quality PC controls for both controller users and keyboard and mouse users.

Happy 10th birthday, Dead Rising!
Dead Rising is a 2006 open world survival horror beat 'em up video game. It is developed and published by Capcom and produced by Keiji Inafune. It was released on August 8, 2006 for the Xbox 360 video game console.

Dead Rising's story centers on Frank West, a photojournalist who ends up trapped in a shopping mall in the fictional town of Willamette, Colorado, that is infested with zombies. Frank must defend himself from zombie attacks, rescue survivors, contend with crazed psychopaths, and stay alive while still attempting to uncover the truth behind the incident. The player controls Frank as he explores the mall, using any available object as a weapon. The player can complete several main and optional missions to earn Prestige Points (PP) and gain special abilities. The game is designed as a sandbox game and features several endings, depending on the decisions the player makes along the way.

The game was a commercial success and has been introduced into the Xbox 360 "Platinum Hits" lineup. Two sequels, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 3 were developed by Capcom Vancouver and were released in September 2010 and November 22, 2013, respectively. A Wii remake was released in February 2009 titled Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, and a mobile phone version is also available.

As part of the Dead Rising's ten year anniversary, ports of the game for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One were announced in July 2016 to be released in September 2016.

Dead Rising has always been a divisive series among gamers for one specific reason; it fostered a strict time limit. Instead of being given free reign over the game world, players were forced to complete tasks on time with harsh penalties for failure (often a game restart).

The upcoming fourth game is forgoing the entire system. Unlike Dead Rising 3 which offered the time limit as an option, Frank West is going to have all the time in the world to explore Willamette in the upcoming sequel. I'm not sure how I personally feel about this.

Dead Rising 3 wasn't bad (and the time limit was pointless), but stripping the series of its most iconic feature feels wrong. If the first Dead Rising didn't feature a time limit, it wouldn't have been much different from something like Grand Theft Auto.

Then again, the most fun I've had with each game has been experimenting with different weapons and trying on all the absurd costumes. I'm not sure I would care without so much urgency.

The time limit might be a reason I didn't enjoy the first two like other people. :dontknow"
