Prodigy had Sickle Cell Anaemia and health problems throughout his life so sadly it wasn't a surprise. 42 is no age though at all. Mobb Deep are a very underrated group and Shook Ones is a great track. RIP Prodigy

Christopher "Fresh Kid Ice" Wong Won, a founding member of rap group 2 Live Crew, died Thursday, according to his agent. He was 53.

"People we lost a legend," 2 Live Crew front man Luther Campbell tweeted.

Won's agent, DJ DBo, told CNN that he had been dealing with health issues recently, but did not elaborate.

Miami-based 2 Live Crew got its start in the mid-1980s, but became well known in the 1990s for its legal battle over the group's album "As Nasty As They Wanna Be." That's when an obscenity lawsuit highlighting the record's raunchiness went all the way to the Supreme Court.
Won and Campbell were arrested in 1990 at a South Florida club after performing songs that a federal judge had deemed obscene. The Supreme Court eventually sided with Campbell and 2 Live Crew in 1992. The case paved the way for parental advisory labels.

In a 2014 interview, Won told the Miami New Times that the group "knew that there's value to our music even though it's not what (the authorities) wanted it to be."

"Our music is party music told in the way that guys and females talk behind closed doors," he said. "It's locker room talk, and we knew it was protected under the First Amendment."
2 Live Crew were great when I was a kid hearing that kind of dirty talk for the first time. I remember seeing the tape in my uncle's car and taking it and listening to it on a walkman so my mom didn't hear it and bringing it back without him noticing it was gone. I had no idea what they were talking about but I thought it was hilarious.

He hung himself like his friend Chris Cornell (who he did a tribute to on Jimmy Kimmel Live the night he died.)

The BBC have an article up here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-40870474 with Twitter quotes from other musicians. Glen Campbell was a great singer and guitarist and had some really great songs like By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Wichita Lineman and Southern Nights among others. He joined the Beach Boys on tour for a while to stand in for Brian. As a guitarist he was part of the Legendary in house band the Wrecking Crew. The documentary move I'll Be Me is worth checking out but is very sad and moving as it details his battle with Alzheimer's. RIP Glen Campbell :(

Soul singer Charles Bradley who was bravely battling stomach cancer has sadly passed away.
https://pitchfork.com/thepitch/remember ... the-world/ I thoroughly recommend the albums he released. Like his idol James Brown, Charles Bradley had an earthly raw soul sound which harked back to the golden days of 60s R&B music. He deserved to be a bigger star because Charles had the talent in abundance. RIP Charles Bradley :(

I was probably the only 13 year old who actually did read the articles. :olol:

I read more than just the entertainment/interview ones at 15. They really did have good journalism, so it sucked it was nothing more than a punchline for most people. They weren't afraid of angering advertisers with controversial articles like most magazines since they were already controversial.

Sadly it's been confirmed now
http://www.kxl.com/report-legendary-mus ... y-dies-66/

Really sad news, it was mentioned on TMZ he only finished his tour a week or so ago. Tom was a very talented songwriter and musician and of course was part of the Travelling Wilburys supergroup. RIP Tom Petty :(

I woke up to the news Tom Petty was dead and my day ended. Was supposed to have a job interview today, now I can't even see the point of leaving bed.
