Re: The 80s/New Wave Music Thread
I think MJ only sings on this song on the entire album. Marlon had left the group by then too so it was Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Randy. LA and Babyface & Teddy Riley wrote and produced some tracks on the album so they had the top R&B producers of the time working on the album. Michael Omartian too who worked with Steely Dan, Donna Summer, Whitney and Rod Stewart among others. It sold half a million but with Mikes involvement I think that would have been a lot more.
Surprising he didn't work on the 2300 Jackson Street LP as he was just coming off the Bad tours, Bad came out in 87, so there was almost a four year gap before he released Dangerous in 1991. MJ of course worked with Teddy on Dangerous, but not with Babyface til "Why" which was like 95/96 which he gave to his nephews 3T and sings during the chorus. There is also "On the Line" from a movie soundtrack which turned up on the MJ box set.
