If it is the hard drive, you'll need to do more than just replace it. You need to extract a security key from the console, which a modchip or eeprom reader are able to do.

well that looks like more expense & effort than sourcing a replacement xbox if I can be bothered to, if I could still see properly I might have given it a go but these days I'd probably screw something up

Which would be a great sign towards merging the PC with the Xbox environment. I've read comments on Reddit about how Microsoft requires that games run on any Windows-based platform. But I assume they have plenty of infrastructure and legal issues to correct before the PC gets more content from the Xbox brand.

I built my first HTPC last month for emulators and such. If Microsoft could bring a lineup of highly optimized games to the PC, it will be a huge deal for me.

I was talking to a mate who said apparently there's a copy of that zombie game (the name slips my mind right now) that was running the Xbox variant on PC natively, instead of the PC build.

The business model makes sense: Publish games for the PC and offer the Xbox for those who want an all-in-one solution. Let's hope they've learned from Games for Windows – Live :olol:

Also, Crackdown 1&2 are free, you have to sign in to Xbox market place to get them.
