The big day is finally here.

Wednesday Night War!

Yep, it's on!. It is unbelievable in a way since I think everyone automatically assumed they'd never be another big money backer come along again and any promotion to have a shot to compete with Vince. We've followed the story on BTE with how they formed AEW, whether Kenny would come in or not etc and now they'll be performing potentially in front of millions of fans. As I said way back on the first page Im rooting for the guys and girls of AEW to succeed. It's not about a war with Vince it's about giving the wrestling fans a great product again. I believe they'll deliver tonight and more. With TNT being all in I think they'll top a million viewers and hopefully even more and they'll stick around for show #2 and onwards. AEW will bring pro wrestling back to the masses tonight and I think they have every chance to succeed and make wrestling cool again like it was back during the Attitude Era.

I'm sure NXT will edge them out in viewership. But then again there are a hell of a lot of people who love(d) wrestling who want an opportunity to see something that isn't WWE (and TNA/Impact's name was tainted forever by being so bad) so they could shock people and do 2 million like TNA did that Monday night in 2010.

Another thing is they could be considered must see live and NXT something fans can DVR to watch later since there's no immediate surprises on NXT like AEW should hopefully have. Although with Punk out of the picture (unless this is the greatest work ever with him going so far as to trying to get a WWE job) I don't know if they'll have any since Jericho already revealed his partners. But the show just has to look major league (which it does), be hipper than WWE (which is easy) and have great matches (which they do.) So I think they are doing all they can do and we just have to wait and see.

This is a great commercial. More of this and less rainbow splashes. If this was the show intro it would be great.

Its going great. The production values are top notch, the announcing is much better with Tony, the opener was great and everybody but Brandon Cutler has come across like a star.

It was a great show. I give them an A for every aspect of the show.

Hearing Tony and JR together again feels like going home for the first time in 25 years.

Tony sounding like he was getting choked up when he said "Wrestling is back on Turner for the first time in 18 years" at the opening made it feel like this second chance means a lot for him.

It's been an amazing comeback for Tony. He did well on this show.

And it was a good first ep. It looked great. Really liked the ending of the show, very nWo-esque.

Full thoughts on the show. Spoilers if you didn't see it yet

-Cody and Sammy was great. Cody really made Sammy a star by letting him do all of his spots and winning with a pin instead of one of his finishes.

-MJF and Cutler was what it should have been: just one step up from a squash. They need Jobber To The Stars so they don't burn through bigger matches and Cutler should definitely be one of those.

-I thought Smith and Mewes did a good job of pretending like they wanted to be there since neither are wrestling fans. Private Party killing their gimmick wasn't good though. It would have been better if they came out to take them to a party instead of being kicked out.

-Pac and Hangman was disappointing. It wasn't as good as their match in England and nowhere near as good as Pac vs Omega.

-Riho and Nyla was better than I expected. They had a good dynamic as the little underdog and monster heel. Nyla is green but she worked as hard as she possibly could and was over. The agent who put it together was very smart.

-The six man was alright but just there for the two angles more than a match. While the ending worked I hope they don't do the "heels and babyfaces brawl" finish every week like Nitro. I could see some people shitting on Swagger because he was positioned in the surprise role everyone thought CM Punk could have all summer. It was fine since he's clearly the enforcer for Jericho and not going to be pushed as a headliner. But for WWE fans looking for a reason to shit on AEW as being second rate this was it. I hope they don't do it again because then they're TNA with "OMG TAZZ, TYSON TOMKO IS IN THE IMPACT ZONE!!!!"
