Just put all your components in an old junker you find aesthetically pleasing.

My daily PC is in an original Antec Sonata.

Sorry, I somehow didn't see it until just over 2 months later! :olol: Well I just checked your link to the Antec 302 and I do recall looking at it. It looks good but I thought it looked too much like my current case. If I get a new case I want it to be exciting and different, well not with lights and everything but you know what I mean. I looked through many cases and decided I really don't need a new one. My current one is doing its job just fine. A new case isn't going to give me any kind of improvement.

So instead of spending $100 on a new case I spent a $100 on this Team Group MP33 M.2 2280 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 with NVMe 1.3 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive] This is my first M2 drive so my first impressions were that it is amazing that we can fit 1TB of data on a little card about the size of a stick of gum. And not only can it store data but it can access it super fast! It won't be that much longer before these types of drives completely replace mechanical drives. Already 1TB is under $100 and really for your average user 1TB is more than enough. They are fairly affordable up to 4TB. You can pick up a 4TB NVME for between $500-$600.

Here are my CrystalMark results from my NVME drive. Image

This drive was $94.99. Now I could have got a drive for around $140 that would have probably gave me faster results, but I think these speeds are great for a 1TB NVME under $100. Also I was using a 120GB SSD from many years ago (2012ish?) and for some reason it never seemed to get the speeds it was supposed to. Here is a benchmark I did with CrystalMark just now with that SSD.

So even though I'm not getting the maximum speeds possible from an NVME drive it is still quite a leap in speed for me. I haven't switch to using it as my boot drive yet. So far the only thing I've done is copy Red Dead Redemption 2 onto it. :olol: I'm going to load it up after posting this and see if it is much faster loading.

She is still running fine! I should probably have a look inside and clean it out though. I haven't really had it open since I put it together over a year ago. I am just glad I built it when I did. I can't believe the prices of GPUs are still through the roof. The 1660 Super that I paid $250 for still goes for over $500. That really sucks for people wanting a gaming PC. I'm still hoping bitcoin will crash and the market will be flooded with GPUs.

It is 5 months later. The 1660 Super still goes for commonly goes for $500+. Bitcoin was 42,869 when I made that post. It is currently 42,099. So everything is still pretty much the same. Hopefully one day soon I can return to this thread and be amazed how fast GPU prices came down.

RTX 3090s are selling for $2,500 to $3,000! Everyone says there is a shortage but looking on Ebay sold listings there are around 4,000 sold listings for RTX 3090s. There are 872 active listings for 3090s which isn't a ton but I'm just saying what everyone is saying which is that scalpers are the only ones who end up with them.

Realistically is there was a shortage and the only people that got cards were ones that were actually going to use the cards then there would be next to none for sale on the second hand market. There are probably people out there who make their living flipping video cards right now. If they are able to score a 3090 for even $2,000 then they are guaranteed an immediate profit of $500-$1000! Imagine they spent 10k for 5 3090s. They get a guaranteed profit of anywhere of $2,500 at the lowest and $5,000 if they can get top dollar. It is much better than going to a casino with 10k! This was just a ramble.

It looks good. You should be gaming well on it for years to come.

It will also be good for PS3 & Wii U emulation.
Almost 2 years later and I just tried out PS3 emulation for the first time. :olol: I couldn't think of a PS3 exclusive game that I really wanted to play so I ended up trying Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time. It seems like a pretty good game and the emulation has been pretty much perfect so far. I did have the emulator crash once but progress is saved frequently enough that it wasn't really a big deal.

Maybe next I'll try out Xbox 360 emulation.

It is now another 5 months later and the 1660 Super can finally be had for around $200. Bitcoin is down to $31,568. An RTX 3090 can be had for around $1,000-$1,500. So it seems video card prices are finally somewhat normal. The only problem is that everything else in the world has raised in price! Gas is $4.59-$4.89 a gallon where I'm at. It is fucking ridiculous!

I posted this picture to Facebook on April 7th 2020. Just a bit over 2 years ago.

$1.29 per gallon. 30 gallons for under $40. It is nearly FOUR TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE now!!! That $38 worth of gas would now cost $146. It is terrible. $10 just to go 50-60 miles. Not only gas but food prices are soaring. It isn't a good time.

Just 23 days later and Bitcoin is down another almost $11K to $20,739 and a card just like mine sold for $160 on July 19th. Pretty good price considering it was $500+ around 5 months ago!
