Re: General Music News
I loved 90s alternative, but hated nu metal. But at least there were the Strokes and White Stripes to keep things more rock focused. Oh man, and Jet? I honestly thought they were going to be around forever.
I saw Third Eye Blind about five years ago, and I thought they were still pretty damn good.

Re: General Music News
Third Eye Blind kept enough of their fanbase that they do fine touring and putting out something new every few years. That should really be the long term goal of every musician.
And yeah I thought nu metal was shit besides Korn who were good through Untouchables but then became dogshit after that. And I liked their influences like Helmet, Faith No More, Suicidal Tendencies, Pantera, Sepultura, and stuff like that. But most of those bands were fucking awful. Once it got to Crazy Town having a #1 single it was the end. I never liked Linkin Park either although Chester Bennington had a good voice, but the songs sucked.
Jet was cool, The Vines also put out 2 good records, and White Stripes were of course legendary (Seven Nation Army is still them theme song in Baltimore sports so I will always love them.) The Strokes I never liked. Is This It was good but I didn't like their other albums and kind of got tired of their hype back in the day.White Stripes were the ones who knew how to make good follow up albums of that era.
And Queens Of The Stone Age were another favorite in 2002. They put out some bangers that still hold up.

Re: General Music News
12:51 was my favorite track off of Is This It, and yeah, I'd agree that their albums were underwhelming. I remember having White Stripes' Elephant album in my car for a lot of my senior year, that might be up there on my favorite albums list.
Queens of the Stone Age, holy shit yeah Songs for the Deaf was an awesome album. I forgot about the supergroups, them, Audioslave and Velvet Revolver
And then there was Hot Fuss, maybe a little emo pop-rock compared to the others but I think that deserves all of its success

Re: General Music News
2002 was an interesting year.
Ladytron had a moment
Flaming Lips put out a good album but not as good as Soft Bulletin
And of course Yankee Hotel Foxtrot exposed how dumb major labels were when Wilco bought the rights back from their label after they said it sucked
