Card Collecting Thread
A thread about collecting cards. Sports, wrestling, movies, TV etc.
So Skynet and myself have been talking about card collecting on the BG Discord, mainly due to this Asuka video from the other week:
Watching her open packs made us both get the urge to buy packs for ourselves, and that's what we've been doing.
This is what I've bought recently. None of it has arrived yet though.

Re: Card Collecting Thread
Seeing her reaction to some of the cards made me want to get them. I bought a box of the ones she was opening and got the complete base set, which I guess all boxes might? I dunno, but I only got 9 doubles total. As well as a bunch of others. I'll list them off here when I get a minute.
I was mad into basketball cards as a kid, until some of my so called friends stole them when I was in the 6th grade or so. I can't prove who did it, so I'm assuming a bunch of them did because so many people allegedly knew what happened.

How did they steal them? Were they in your school locker or school bag?

Re: Card Collecting Thread
They were in my school bag. I remember one of my friends saying I should take them with me in case something happens. They were in the class room and I was young and dumb, so I thought "what the hell could happen to them?"
I came back in from recess or lunch and they were gone. The story all the kids were saying was some random kids from another school just walked in and grabbed them.
I was too young/dumb to even question that story with a teacher and have them look for my cards on the kids in my class. Oh well.

I semi collect Magic the Gathering cards as I'm a semi-regular player, although I'm pulling out of the hobby a bit as it is a money pit.
That is my contribution to the thread.

Re: Card Collecting Thread
I have some old football cards. (AFL)
Some old Pokémon cards.
And some old metcards (Melbourne public transport tickets).
They are... somewhere, and probably all worthless!
They are collection not hoards though, because they are all together with their respective matching cards.
OOH also some steam cards that are worth less than my actual worthless cards.

Have you checked this out over on the DVDVR board ?
http://deathvalleydriver.com/forum/inde ... ing-cards/
Are you selling on or collecting to keep? Some of the retro card sets of Macho & Liz and would look good framed.

Re: Card Collecting Thread
I'm also collecting to keep, just have a nice collection. That being said, when I get back into basketball card collecting if by some miracle I had a couple cards worth a few bucks I'd probably just flip them, if I didn't have a full set.
Also, I only got 1 Asuka Wait, maybe 2 if she's in the base set, which I suspect she should be. I better go through it properly. I think I'm missing about 5 of the 50 from the Wrestlemania set in that collection. But have the complete base set

I use to collect non sports cards like the Valiant ones, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cards. Accept for the chase cards, I had the entire Marvel Universe 94 set.

I used to have some of the Turtle cards back in the day & Simpsons ones (they have scenes from the first series on them and you could make a map of Springfield with all the characters on it on the otherside of the card). Also I think they were called Garbage Pail Kids (which had a stick of gum with them). They have the complete series 1 of them graded for US $4,500.00

Re: Card Collecting Thread
I still have a bunch of TMNT cards. Maybe some Garbage Pail Kids as well. Sometime over the next week I'll get my old cards out of the garage and see what I still have and take some pics.
The wrestling cards from the Australian seller arrived today. Really happy with them. Had fun opening the packs so will order more.
The Ricky Steamboat HOF card is the thickest card I've ever seen. It's like a plank. I'll take pictures of it and some of the other cool cards tomorrow.
