It looks like his daughter Sofia will inherit the company. So Stephanie can't say she was the first female to own a wrestling promotion when Vince dies (but of course she will anyway.) Plus Motoko Baba owned All Japan for 2 years before selling it to Muta, so she was the true first.

Former Memphis wrestler and promoter Eddie Marlin passed away this morning at age 89. Former Memphis wrestling personality Randy Hales, who helped take care of him, posted on Twitter about the news. Hales wrote, "I'm said to say Eddie Marlin passed away at 5 am this morning. I waited to all the family were told until I made this post. I will do a FB Live Tonight 8:30 Central."

Marlin is the grandfather of WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett.

Eddie Marlin wrestled in NWA Mid-America, where he teamed with Tommy Gilbert. He later joined his son-in-law Jerry Jarrett's promotion, Continental Wrestling Association, where he was the on-screen General Manager throughout the 1980s. During his career, he won the NWA Southern Tag Team Championship, NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Championship, and NWA Mid-America Tag Team Championship.

On August 8, Jerry Jarrett updated about his father-in-law's condition, "This is the complete text. Our family thanks you for your prayers. Doctor Montgomery just came in. He told Eddie that all his organs had failed and it was a miracle he survived and he must be toughest man in the world and things are going in right direction now." On August 13, Jarrett updated, "Eddie is being moved to hospice."

Rick Bognar, who had his most success under the name Big Tytan with FMW, where he was a main event star and one-time World Champion, passed away on September 20.

No cause of death was released. Bognar was 49 years old.

Bognar was also briefly the fake Razor Ramon, when the WWF tried to recreate Diesel & Razor Ramon using Glenn Jacobs (Kane) in the Diesel role in 1996.

Bognar was 6-foot-5, and in Japan, billed as 6-foot-7 and 300 pounds, with the bodybuilder look, long hair, and great flying ability. He was only 21 when he first started going to Japan, in 1991, and with his size and look, was expected to be one of the biggest stars in wrestling. The day before his 22nd birthday, he won FMW's main title, the World Martial Arts title, from legendary Atsushi Onita, although it was a short reign.

He frequently teamed with The Gladiator (Mike Alfonso aka Mike Awesome) in FMW.

Bognar never reached the expected heights. His in-ring never improved to where he was a big star in other groups, although he had shots in WAR, ECW, and WWF from 1995 to 1997. Paul Heyman was very high on him, noting he brought something to the table that they had never had up to that point, a big guy who could fly. But he didn't get over with the ECW audience.

Bognar was brought into WWF to play the new Razor Ramon, as the company, which owned the name, thought they could just introduce new wrestlers as Razor Ramon & Diesel, which was far from one of their best ideas. When the gimmick flopped, Bognar was tainted. But it wasn't as if he was thriving and just had a bad gimmick. When his contract expired, he was released.

He went to New Japan as part of the NWO, but suffered a bad neck injury that ended his career there in 1999, although he did work for a Stampede Wrestling remake in 2000 and did occasional independent shows in the Calgary area as late as 2012.
I guess it's noteworthy Scott Hall outlived the Fake Razor.

They look like a mid-90s boy band.

Hell of a worker. He did a one-glove gimmick when Michael Jackson was big that got him over pretty good in the middle card when the WWF was just starting to boom and was known as having an amazing knack for Ring Psychology. RIP.

He had lots of knowledge. He was an agent forever so he put together some classic matches with Patterson. He was an agent from Hulkamania into the Attitude Era, so that's quite a career. He and Pat went way back to the Montreal days when they were rookies so he got quite an education. And from I remember he was at those Ring Roasts and nobody said anything bad about him besides making fun of his age, so he was well liked.

Joe was a good dude. Opened my eyes to a lot of smaller groups in the late eighties and early nineties and, I'll tell y'all something that may not be too widely known - he was known as a hell of a trainer. He never got in a ring in a bumping fashion but he could take a guy's performance and break it down and tell them what he/her was doing right and wrong from a working perspective. Hell of a hand at helping guys perfect their interviews and be comfortable in the ring too. He did a lot of good for the business and I'm glad he's getting the love that he deserves.
