We mentioned that he'd teased it earlier in the day, and now it appears to be official -- UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor has retired from mixed martial arts and will be pulled from the UFC 200 show.

McGregor tweeted that he was retiring early this afternoon, causing a firestorm. No reason for the retirement has been given, and many suspected that the 27-year old Irishman was either joking or leveraging for a better deal.

As it turns out, he seems serious, at least for now. UFC President Dana White appeared on ESPN to break the news to fans.

"Conor didn't want to come to Las Vegas and be part of any promotional training," White said. "He's in Iceland training. It doesn't make you exempt. We spend a lot of money on this stuff. Is Conor McGregor retiring? Only he can answer that question," White said. "I don't know. But he will not be a part of UFC 200."

White said that a replacement fight is being sought out for the UFC 200 main event. McGregor was scheduled to take on Nate Diaz in a re-match on the July card.

Two rumors going around is the new main event will either be Dos Anjos vs. Diaz for the LW title or GSP vs. Hendricks II.

Re: Following Steph and HHH on Twitter. That's being exaggerated. He started following them during Wrestlemania because he said Wrestlemania always makes him remember why he likes pro wrestling and they thanked him and Becky Lynch invited him to come to one of the UK shows. He still planned to be fighting in UFC as of 72 hours ago because he was still training up until Dana told him they refuse to give a guaranteed 10 mil payment and demanded he come to Vegas for the press conference with Nate.

To me, this feels less like Lesnar actually leaving forever and more like those times Tito Ortiz walked out on a show trying to make a power play. He'll be back.

Yea, the Conor "retiring" stuff seems like it's more of a temper-tantrum type thing and not like he's really done. But maybe when he saw the fighter being KO'd and pass shortly after made him question his future. That being said, he'll be back. He won't want to go out on a loss and he's still the UFC Featherweight champion, so if he's really truly "done", he'll have to relinquish the belt and apparently Dana's threatening him with taking the belt away too. The following WWE talent on Twitter stuff you can take with a pinch of salt too. He's Daniel Bryan type size (one inch shorter than D-Bry at 5ft 9in) and 170lbs so he's average kinda size. The top asset he has is that he'd be a great talker and he dresses like Ric Flair in his prime with the tailored suits. UFC should make him a big money offer to come back, not $10m unless he will generate in excess of that amount via PPV buys & gate receipts for UFC 200. UFC 100 did 1.6m buys which say it's 50 bucks for the PPV it would have drawn $80m but then you have to factor in paying the fighters, arena hire, arena security & staff etc. The McGregor/Diaz fight apparently set a new UFC record for PPV buys or was 2nd highest ever (estimated to be 1.5m whilst Brock/Mir was 1.6m) so there's no arguing he's a draw. Outside of Ronda, he's the biggest mainstream draw they have and like I've said he's a great talker, one of those who'd have been big back in the golden era of boxing too. As a big long time UFC and Conor fan, I'd like to see him back but if he is done then I think he's had a short but very good career in the UFC but one which will be blighted by not rematching Nick Diaz and never really transitioning from very good to all time great like a GSP, Randy Couture, Chuck, Anderson Silva et al.

Conor McGregor: I'm Not Retired ... 'Paid to Fight, Not Promote'

Conor McGregor says he is NOT retired -- still wants to fight at UFC 200 -- and blasted the UFC saying he's paid to fight, not to promote.

In a long post to social media, McGregor essentially says he's been caught up in the PR machine -- and it distracted him from his main focus ... fighting.

"I have become lost in the game of promotion and forgot about the art of fighting."

"Talking to some lady that deep down doesn't give a f**k about what I'm doing, but just wants some sound bites so she can maybe get her little tight ass a nice raise, and I'm cool with that too, I've been giving you all raises. But I need to focus on me now."

McGregor says he tried to strike a compromise with the UFC -- asking for permission to skip the Vegas press conference this weekend and instead only hitting the "big" events like the upcoming presser in NYC, but was shot down.

Conor says he doesn't think the decision to yank him from UFC 200 is fair considering how much money he's made for the UFC over the years.

"I feel the $400million I have generated for the company in my last three events, all inside 8 months, is enough to get me this slight leeway."

"I am still ready to go for UFC 200."

He also took a shot at Nate Diaz -- "Nate's little mush head looks good up on that stage these days. Stuff him in front of the camera for it."

He concludes by addressing his "retirement" tweet -- saying, "For USADA and for the UFC and my contract stipulations - I AM NOT RETIRED."

The owner of Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Zuffa LLC [ZUFFA.UL], is in advanced talks to the sell the business, ESPN reported on Tuesday, citing sources.

The winning bid, should the deal consummate, is expected to value the leading mixed martial arts promotion company between $3.5 billion and $4 billion, ESPN.com said, citing multiple sources with knowledge of the matter. (es.pn/1OfWFJw)

At least four bidders have submitted bids for the business, including WME IMG Holdings Inc, China Media Capital, Blackstone Group LP and Dalian Wanda Group, the report said.

The leader in the bid is said to be Chinese conglomerate Dalian Wanda Group, the report added.

UFC is owned by brothers Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta of Station Casinos, a Las Vegas-based hotel-casino chain, via parent company Zuffa.

We don't know when Conor is coming back, but Dana can find solace in knowing he found his new Chuck Liddell. And he can bring the Ohio crowd back that died off after Rich Franklin fell off.

Chris Weidman pulled out of UFC 199 due to a neck injury, so the new main event is Rockhold vs. Bisping. Too bad they only have a little over 2 weeks to hype it, since they're two of the best talkers in UFC.

This is an epic F4WOnline review.
MAIN EVENT FOR THE BELLATOR MIDDLEWEIGHT TITLE:

CHAMPION RAFAEL CARVALHO (12-1) VS MELVIN MANHOEF (30-12-1) (John McCarthy - ref)

Both guys keeping their distance early. Crowd starting to boo at 1:15 as neither guy has landed a strike. Carvalho controlling the pace and lands a kick from distance at 2:30 that may be the first strike landed. Jimmy Smith calls it a "regrettably cautious start from both fighters" . Boos are getting really loud at 3:15. McCarthy stops the fight and warns them to fight. What? I mean, what's he going to do? This is like the MR Wrestling 3 counter gimmick with the Young Bucks last weekend. 4:30 in and still nothing. Manhoef lands a kick at 4:45. Grande says it was the first strike landed. 10-10, no question.

Manhoef pushing the pace early. Manhoef throws a punch and follows up with a kick at 45 seconds, the most sustained "action" of the fight. Manhoef with a hard kick to the body at 1:30. Official stats for round 1 were Manhoef 1/6 in strikes landed, Carvalho 1/13 in strikes landed. Crowd booing again at 2:30 as they've slowed down. Carvalho starting to advance now. Crowd getting really loud again with the booing at 3:45. Manhoef lands two leg kicks and follows up with punches at 4:00. Carvalho still advancing. Carvalho with a knee to the body and they clinch up. Carvalho with a knee that looked low and McCarthy steps in but Carvalho wants to keep fighting. Carvalho with 2 elbows to the head after McCarthy stopped it. Replay looked like it might have hit the gut. 10-9 Manhoef

Manhoef with a punch combo to open. Carvalho with an eye poke 15 seconds in. McCarthy had warned him earlier in the fight but didn't dock a point. On the restart, he had his fingers out again and McCarthy stopped it again and warned Carvalho. Carvalho with a takedown attempt at 1:30 and they end up in a cage clinch. Manhoef gets control and then throws Carvalho off, landing a hard punch on the way out. Carvalho clinches right back up again and takes Manhoef down. Manhoef to his feet at 2:30. Carvalho with another low blow. I dont know if this is eligible for the Wrestling Observer awards but this is the worst show of the year, bar none. McCarthy calls the corner over and warns the corner to control their fighter. No pont deduction, though. Carvalho shoots for a takedown again at 3:45 but Manhoef defends it. Crowd booing heavily again as they're clinched on the cage with nothing happening. Manhoef punches his way out of it at 4:45. This could be Carvalho's round. 10-9 Carvalho, 29-29 so far

Carvalho shoots for a takedown 30 seconds in but stuffed by Manhoef. Manhoef lands a hard kick on the way out. Carvalho lands a knee to the body and then gets a takedown at 1:15. Carvalho right into side control. Carvalho just holding him down, nothing even attempting anything from side control and the crowd booing heavily. And then he just lets Manhoef up. This is awful. Terrible. No good. Just really, really bad. Announcers are talking like Manhoef's up three rounds. He could be. I don't care. Carvalho just waving his arms around at 3:30 and Manhoef just standing there. Crowd booing heavily. McCarthy warning them to fight again. Booing is getting ridiculously loud. Carvalho walking away from Manhoef with his hands on his hips and Manhoef just doing nothing. They walked back to their corners before the bell even rang. "Beyond my comprehension", Jimmy Smith said as the round ended. Another 10-10

Crowd starting to do random chants to entertain themselves now. Manhoef with a superman punch landing and the crowd like that. Manhoef with a nice punch combo at 1:00. Hard body kick from Manhoef at 1:15. Carvalho shoots for a takedown at 1:45. Manhoef defends it but Carvalho holds onto him in a cage clinch. Ref warning them to work. Manhoef landing light punches to the head. Manhoef ends up falling on top of him and into mount briefly but Carvalho just stands up. Manhoef takes him right back down. And nothing happening again. Ref warns them to work again. Manhoef up at 3:30 and Carvalho follows him. Carvalho back to walking around with his hands on his hips. Crowd booing louds and McCarthy steps in between them and tells them to fight. Manhoef lands a couple of single strikes from distance. Crowd booing heavily at the end. 10-9 Manhoef, 49-48 overall

WINNER - RAFAEL CARVALHO (13-1) by split decision (47-48-29; 48-47 x 2)

Sean Grande said that the only thing worse than that fight was the decision. Jimmy Smith that he is "DISGUSTED that this fight went this way for Rafael Carvalho" and that he's disgusted for this sport right now. And followed up by saying that's all he can say on TV. Wow.

I mean, that was a bad decision but far from the worst you'll ever see. It was just a really bad fight and I don't know how you pick a winner in the 2 rounds I scored 10-10. It sounded like Jimmy dropped his headset while Grande was talking as the show went off the air.

This was easily the worst MMA card I've ever seen topped off by what may have been the worst fight in this century.

Anyone being checking out the new TUF?. Some wacky stuff going on between Joanna and Claudia. They seem to legit dislike each other and its a great way to build up a grudge match between the two. Really it's classic old school wrestling booking. Same with Bones Jones and Cormier, Tito and Chuck, Conor & Nate the list goes on.

-- Saturday night is a busy night in the UFC world with UFC 199 going down in Los Angeles, but there are some huge fights in the works for July's UFC 200 event and August's UFC 202 event that has captured the attention of fans. Both stories come courtesy of MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani.

The long-rumored rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz is close to being finalized for UFC 202 on August 20 in Las Vegas. It was originally scheduled to be the main event of UFC 200, but McGregor was pulled after a series of events. Diaz was also pulled when he let it be known he would only be fighting McGregor. After some time, meetings between McGregor and the UFC led to the two sides being back on the same page, but the same couldn't be said for Diaz and the UFC after they had their meeting. However, it seems as though the sides have mended, and Diaz was filming an episode of "Lookin For A Fight" with UFC President Dana White today, and even posted about it on his Instagram page.

In what could be even bigger news, WWE superstar and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is close to finalizing a deal to fight at UFC 200 in July. No opponent is known at this time according to Helwani, though there have been rumors that the opponent could end up being Mark Hunt. Lesnar came close to returning to the UFC in early 2015, but ultimately decided to sign a new contract with the WWE. He hasn't fought since losing to Alistair Overeem at UFC 141 in December 2011. He came close to returning in 2012 for a fight against Fedor Emelianenko, but the deal was unable to be put together by the UFC. According to sources, Lesnar had an option put in his WWE contract that he could take a UFC bout prior to this year's Wrestlemania. UFC 200 takes place on July 9 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, headlined by Daniel Cormier taking on Jon Jones.

---

It's official.

Brock Lesnar to compete at UFC 200 prior to return at major WWE event

Brock Lesnar remains under contract to WWE, however, he has been granted a one-off opportunity to compete at UFC 200. Following this milestone event on July 9, Brock will return to WWE for SummerSlam on Sunday, August 21, live on WWE Network.
