But seriously, it would be cool if someone can get this running on a 1996-era machine

Saw this at NeoGAF:
Someone also made a Windows 95 build using DirectX "for the luls" which I tried out a few weeks ago.

Looks awesome, although some of the lighting is creeping into 2007-era bloom. I'm getting some Twilight Princess vibes here :olol: But it's cool nonetheless and will only look better with some refinement and upscaled textures.

We need hacks ported to this immediately. I would have actually played Cursed Castles more had I had free camera control.

It might be possible to compile ROM hacks with SM64PC. I looked at the instructions and it needs a ROM to gather all of the resources, so I wonder what happens if you used a ROM hack instead of a stock ROM? I don't know, because I couldn't get MSYS2 to work in Windows 10 :olol:

I hope the combat is better. I liked Color Splash a lot, but the battles felt like they wanted a chance to fix Sticker Star’s combat. Also, that origami is fantastic.

The draw distance mod is great, the pop ins have been the big thing I've noticed while playing the PC port.

HD textures, though, always look like a set of mismatched generic assets from other games. I think I'll stick to filters to upscale original textures and not replace them.
