I reviewed 1994 (the year), by ranking and reviewing my 25 favorite video games released during that year.

I had a reference to the OJ Simpson trial in the intro, though I cut it out so that the whole video possess a veneer of childish ignorance, like video games were the only thing that mattered in the world at the time. You need not be so childish in your comments, however. Feel free to talk about OJ all you want in there.

For a much better video about 1994, watch the 30 for 30 documentary "OJ: Made In America."

Mortal Kombat Anthology Remake is Out and Free to Download

There are a small, but dedicated, number of people out there who want to provide us with the most authentic retro arcade feeling that the original Mortal Kombat games (and their home console ports) provided. You know, just in case the more modern iterations are not exactly doing it for you.

Well, in announcing the release of the latest project, Mortal Kombat Anthology (featuring over 100 of the game’s characters) is available to download and play, right now, for free!

Mortal Kombat Anthology

As you can see in the video above, the work and detail that has gone into this is truly remarkable. You practically have every major Mortal Kombat character you could want. All with their respective move-sets and finishers to give you the retro Mortal Kombat experience.

Better still… it’s free!

Where Can I Get My Copy?

As this is essentially a MUGEN MK game, the good news (presuming you’re familiar with that range) is that this is available to download and play, for free, right now!

So, where do you get your copy? Well, you should find the download link here! – I have already downloaded and played it so I can (at least on the surface) confirm that the download is safe, gremlin free and worked perfectly for me!

If you were, therefore, struggling to find something to occupy your Sunday afternoon, this seems like a perfect gift!

I glanced over the post and saw the video thumbnail. I thought it was a Virtual Boy homebrew title :olol: Regardless, looks like fun

VPW2 English Translation patch.

Once applied, don't panic, you'll have to initialise the save data.
In order to save me a couple of days, I used a re-costume save and just defaulted all the names.

Almost everything is translated, including moves, options and attires it's pretty amazing.

I was up until about 1am last night making Strong, Hulk and Piper Machine CAWs, accompanied by a glass of bandy in the sleeping quarters. What better way to spend a Saturday night....?

Have you checked out the VPW2 Freem edition?

https://vpw.ajworld.net/vpw2freem/

Has characters from the other AKI games in it like Rock, Austin, Goldberg, Hogan, HBK, Sting, Macho etc. Also has some extra faces in the CAW options.

I always wondered if this would be possible. All the moves from WM2000 and Revenge are in there, so it makes sense.
I've never been a massive fan of putting in modern day wrestlers as it feels a bit weird, but the guys from the WcW and WWF AKI games... Well that's always been the dream hasn't it. They look awesome in there.

Some of them don't look 100% accurate to the original Revenge & No Mercy games but the WM2000 do because it was developed around the same time and they sort of share texture models. I think a more classic character base would be better suited (i.e. gaijins who worked for All Japan, New Japan and even going back to the 50s/60s which predate those promotions (I believe it was the JWA then) so you could have Rikidozan vs Classie Freddie Blassie). Although a more modern VPW2 with today's wrestlers would also be fun.

I think there was a boxing mode in hidden in the VPW2 code too so if they can somehow iron that out to import a boxing mode option that would be cool too.
