My father-in-law passed away last weekend. I'll accept condolences, but only for my wife as we didn't get along that great. He had been sick for 2 years and lived far longer than anyone expected. But that's besides the point. The real reason I post about this here is because as part of his estate, the family gave me his entire cartridge-based video game collection (his son still had the Playstation, so he took all the PSX games, and the guy switched to PC only in the early 2000's).

NES:
Shadowgate
Ultima
Dr. Mario
Dragon Warrior
Dragon Warrior II
Monopoly
Battletoads
Bigfoot (as in the monster truck, not the sasquatch)
Final Fantasy
Legacy of the Wizard
Super Mario 2
Super Mario 3 (this makes my third copy of this cart, I really should sell some)
Klax
Mission Cobra (this is an unlicensed game, and apparently the most valuable of the lot)

Genesis:
Shining Force (with box)
Shining in the Darkness
Haunting
Vectorman 2
Ecco the Dophin (with box)
Combat Cars (with box)
Sonic and Knuckles
Comix Zone
Altered Beast (with box)
Sonic the Hedgehog
Phantasy Star III

I also got a pile of NES controllers and a Zapper. Now you may be wondering why the consoles weren't included. Well that's because they were given to me years ago after they got a flatscreen TV that needed a converter to use them. And they weren't just any Genesis and NES, it was a 'High Definition Graphics' Model 1 Genesis (the one the internet deems as having the best audio chip) and a Top Loading NES. We didn't know where the games had gotten to until we started cleaning out the house and found them mixed in behind a shelf of VHS tapes.

Condolences to your wife on the loss of her father.

That's some cool stuff to get. Funnily enough I was checking out prices of the boxed versions of Shining Force 1 & 2 the other day on ebay. I was hoping to find a cheapie, but they are still going for $100+.

That's the one I have. The sexiest looking console ever.

From turning your Series X on, to actually being at a game menu, could you time it?

If it’s less than 4 minutes it’s an improvement over the One.

Edit:
Also, how much you pay for the Saturn games?

Trying to decide if it’s a good time to sell.

It won't get here until Friday but I'll do it then.

I've been playing Watch Dogs 2 on the X1X and it takes a fair while to load up and reload after dying, so I'll test the times on that as well.

Prices on the cheaper Saturn games are rising. A few years ago stuff like Sega Rally was $15 on ebay but now it's $25+

I paid about $25 each for that lot but most of them were in a bundle with a Saturn pad and RF cable. Bug complete in box goes for $50+ so that was a decent deal. The others were about the average price they currently go for.

The person that was selling the bundle found the games in hard rubbish. Saturn games in the rubbish in 2020!

I wasn't able to get a preorder from a store so I just got one from Telstra.

So Telstra got the XSEX, Vodafone now have the PS5 (with 2 plans) can’t wait for Optus to have the Atari Jaguar or Apple Pippin!
