So Nintendo wouldn't allow blood in the first Mortal Kombat but let a game end with the hero killing himself?

It only came out in Japan, and they didn't care about censorship as much over there. They were more worried about bad publicity from the Western media.

Looks WrestleFest-esque. So far they've announced

Road Warriors
Tommy Dreamer
Austin Idol
bWo
Zack Sabre Jr

as being in the game

It looks alright. It will need to be cheap though if it has no career mode.

I don't like retro looking games. It's just a waste in an age where graphics are so incredible now. I can just use an SNES emulator to play WWF Royal Rumble.

True, although retro graphics with modern gameplay elements can be good.

I imagine its because retro looking games are in right now and they add to the nostalgia factor. Id imagine if they were going for a game similar to like WWE 2K it would take a huge team of programmers, artists, animators, musicians etc to put it together. So something retro is easier, although you'd still have to know basic, assembly, C+/C++ etc depending on what platform you're developing for. But on the whole it would be a more manageable project. I think even a C64 type games take a lot of time and effort to create so Im assuming as you go up through the different generations of game systems they get progressively more difficult to work on due to the complexity of the system architecture.

I hated those games. Nitro looked fantastic by 1997 standards but have the worst controls ever. You were guaranteed sore thumbs.

The only good thing about Nitro is you could mod the PC version.

Yukes are creating their own in house competition. If that means a better WWE game then that's good.

WWE kicks off an entire storyline revolving around the Switch

Go get'em, Ember!

Earlier tonight, I caught a couple minutes of WWE Smackdown Live and noticed that WWE Superstar Ember Moon was playing her Switch backstage. In the segment above, Ember has her Switch slapped out of her hands by WWE Superstar Sonya Deville, and her buddy Mandy Rose. I didn't get to catch the rest of the show yet (due to damn E3!), but GN reader Neverunplaying messaged me to let me know the Switch stuff is actually part of a bigger storyline now.

Obviously when the Switch got smacked out of Ember's hands, it broke. Ember is pretty pissed about it, and shared that anger during a backstage segment. Looks like Ember is going to be furthering a feud with Mandy/Sonya, motivated by her busted Switch. Hell, someone doing that to my Switch would make me just as angry!

Vince is going to make new WWE Superstar Nintendo Switch change it's name to Ridge La Grange.

Mayhem was awful. I never even bothered with Backstage Assault. I bought the ECW game that came out around that time instead.

Mayhem wasn't too bad I thought, it was more of a wrestling simulation game than Nitro and Thunder were which were more arcade type. It also had the base to be a half decent game if they continued with it instead of Backstage Assault. That game is just hilariously bad though, I mean look at the actual character models like Hulk :rofl2: it does look like a Bootleg Hogan action figure and how Sting just randomly fell over for no reason.

I really wish there was some way to play the old EWR game on my iphone or WWE would release something similar. I'm dying for some sort of promotion/booker game I can play on the go
