Half-Life 3

Tired of waiting for Half-Life 3? Yeah me too, it’s been so long and so joked about, I honestly have given up caring if it gets a sequel or not. I don’t think it would ever live up to people’s expectations even if it did. I’m sure that’s true for most people now too, we’ve moved on in the gaming world. However, that doesn’t mean everyone has given up. Some people just decide to make their own damn game instead.

Fan Made Demo
Danys Almaral has released a demo for his own Half-Life 3. He’s created it using Unreal Engine 4, and by using the free assets from the Unreal Engine Marketplace. The end result is far better than you would expect though. It looks pretty fantastic in the video he’s released. Not only that but you can download and play it yourself too!

“I started as a level design test with Unreal Engine 4. It was looking nice, I told on twitter I was making Half Life 3 because I can’t wait for valve. It went almost viral. Hope people understand is a joke, a single person can’t make that huge project. That deserve a bigger and serious team. You can download and play the level on Windows, it just walk around.

Future of this demo:

I’ll try to add more sounds and interactivity, maybe some weapons. I was thinking about designing a relaxing and quiet waiting place. So you can go there and fee like you are Gordon Freeman waiting for Half Life 3.”


But… I Want More!!!
Unfortunately, it’s just that, a demo. It’s not really planned to turn it into a full game. Of course, if he did, the lawyers would be smashing his door down any time now.

An update for Half-Life is now available:

Fixes and Updates

• Fixed setting monitor refresh rates through -freq when used with -nofbo
• Fixed unnecessary texture rescaling with NPOT textures
• Fixed slist command, will now show servers on the local network
• Fixed erroneous return in SV_ClipToLinks (HL #1685)
• Fixed inability to reload a partially empty weapon after reloading a save game
• Fixed MP5 spread factor, multiplayer factor was being used for single player and single player for multiplayer
• Fixed progress bar for individual files in resource download always showing at 100%
• Added auto-saving of several cvars (HL #2237)
• Fixed missing localizations in spectator UI
• Fixed NPC turn rate when running at >60FPS
• Reordered columns in server browser to prevent game descriptions from being used to fake server player count
• Fixed sv_cheats from being settable by players in a multiplayer game (sv_cheats is controllable by the server)
• Added cl_autowepswitch cvar with values 0/1 to disable/enable auto weapon switching when a new weapon is picked up
• Fix various weapon animation/sound issues

Maybe if Valve spent just a LITTLE less time on shitty fucking trading cards, and updates for games that worked fine 21 fucking years ago they could make a decent game.
If they're dead set on wasting fucking time and effort, why not finish and release the Dreamcast HL??

Still waiting for my Red Box... Half life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Team fortress 3 and DOTA 3.
Maybe when every gamer in the world is using epic game launcher, they'll make a new game again...

I remember back in the day we all gave Valve shit for making L4D in 2008 and making L4D2 in 2009...
They took that feedback of fans saying WE DON'T WANT A NEW GAME EVERY YEAR! and stopped making any games at all FOR A FUCKING DECADE!!!!
