Pis are nice for the size and low power use, but looking at those prices, I suspect an used/refurb PC would be a better choice in most cases.

Sata port doesn't bother me too much, if pi5 has an M.2 connector on the underside I wouldn't complain though.OrangeRibbon wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2019 7:46 am I am a little let down they didn't add a sata port to boot off of.
ian if you need one, and it is cheaper to ship from 08106 let me know.
and I mean I would have grabbed the 4GB one at $80... last time I played around with one was the Pi 1 Model B
And shipping won't be cheaper, getting anything from overseas $20 item.. $60 shipping.. but thanks anyway.
But $100 for a cheap computer.. not so cheap, I'm sure I'll be able to pick up a 3B+ now for about $20 because everyone will upgrade. and thus being a cheap computer, which was the point of the whole thing from the start.
If I should Die Hard Arcade before I Alan Wake.

It would be great if the new CPU will bring latency improvements for older systems, that's the one feature I'm looking for.

PS1 is working well on the Pi0 now.

I repeat again – with Raspberry Pi 4 and RetroArch, latency is NOT A PROBLEM thanks to runahead. You don’t need magic controllers or any fancy tech – but I’ll let the numbers speak for themselves.
Mario Kart Advance – VBA Next – 5 frames ahead – runahead – second instance – 65-75 fps
Super Mario Advance – VBA Next – 2 frames ahead – 2 instances – 86fps
Mario Kart Advance – VBA Next – 2 frames ahead – 2 instances – between 65 – 75 fps full speed
Mario Kart Advance – VBA Next – 2 frames ahead – 1 instance – 50fps
Super Castlevania 4 – Snes9x 2010 – 5 frames ahead – 1 instance – 68fps
Super Castlevania 4 – Snes9x 2010 – 5 frames ahead – 2 instances – 140fps
Sonic – Genesis Plus GX – 5 frames ahead – 2 instances – 125fps
Streets of Rage 2 – Genesis Plus GX – 2 frames ahead – 1 instance – 117fps
Super Castlevania 4 – Snes9x 2010 – 2 frames ahead – 1 instance – 100fps
Super Castlevania 4 – Snes9x 2010 – 2 frames ahead – 2 instances – 135fps
So, in other words, RetroArch and runahead is a done deal for NES, SNES, Genesis, and GBA on a Raspberry Pi 4. Better than console latency, better than on a real CRT. Put a fork in it, it’s done! All this for $50 tech, too. Kinda hard to beat in value.

Nice. Looking like it's a good little computer for the price.

Re: The Raspberry Pi/SBC/Mini PC Thread (Raspberry Pi 4 released)
So I bought a new 2gb Pi and set up OpenMediaVault. Right now I am trying to decide on keeping the plex media server on my laptop or installing it on the Pi. I have already ripped all of my Kids in the Hall Dvds.
Right now I am just using an old 2tb drive, but Black Friday I am going to upgrade to 2 8tb or 10tb drives and do a mirrored raid.
