The guy didn’t leave her because she was fat, he left because she stopped taking care of herself after meeting him. And she didn’t lose the weight to show him up, she lost it because the breakup made her realize she was destroying herself. Honestly, this whole thing is a bit melancholy because it took him leaving for her to do the very thing that would have made him stay. But instead we get the headline ‘Asshole guy dumps fat girl, girl loses fat and wins beauty contest.’

Ah yes, this could be an apt description of the journalistic pedigree that Barstool Sports is known for Looks like the article I linked to was written by a web editor for the Toronto Sun and shared across its half dozen or so publications. So basically, it's a few shaves above a full-blown clickbait article on The Sun's website.
