Scott Hall has passed away.

Post by Ocelot »

This one gets his own thread.

Been around addiction and how it tears up the body and mind most of my life. Add this to being a wrestling fan and loving this guy's work and this.... this really fucking sucks.

RIP Scott Hall

He was the total package: good wrestler, good promo, great look, incredible charisma. If he didn't have addiction problems he would have been thought of as one of the top stars in history and probably had world title runs until 2003 when his body started to go on him. And he loved the business. Guys you wouldn't think of like Joey Janela said Scott loved to talk for hours about the little tricks to make a good match great. So without his problems he would have booked.

I think the saddest thing about Scott is he knew he was a fuck up and it hurt him. He wasn't a sociopath who doesn't care like Tammy Sytch, he lived with incredible guilt about his life. I don't know about the afterlife but I hope he found peace somehow.

Really sad news about Razor. He definitely is in the top echelon of wrestlers never to win the World title. Scott's integral to the whole rise of the popularity of wrestling during the Monday Night Wars. Had he not turned up on WCW Nitro who's to know if Big Kev would have joined him and if Hogan would have felt secure enough to band together with them to form the nWo.

That huge change in dynamic where it added more realism to wrestling, alongside what ECW were doing made WWF have to change with the times. Without that, again who knows where wrestling would be now had that era never happened. Scott had the charisma and presence to make his debut on Nitro so believable, he could work either heel or face and the stories of him helping others out etc shows why he has there had been such good words being said about him since his passing and he's held in such high regard.

RIP Scott Hall :(

Of everyone that should have been WWE champion that never was, the two that I have always thought of were Curt Henning and Scott Hall. They were fucking *money.*

Something that a lot of folks forget too - Razor wasn't even in the WWF/E four years, yet he made that much of an impact.

Curt was just about 3 years too early coming in. He would have been up there with Bret and Shawn if he came in around 1991. But unfortunately by the time Vince was ready to go with good wrestlers over steroid guys his back was too injured.

Further details on Scott Hall's broken hip, pandemic isolation issues emerge

Sean "X-Pac" Waltman talked to Dave Meltzer about Hall's recent health problems.

In an interview with Dave Meltzer for this week's Scott Hall obituary/biography in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sean "X-Pac" Waltman revealed that Hall was on the floor for several days with a broken hip until "Diamond" Dallas Page went to his house.

Hall passed away Monday at 63 years old after suffering three heart attacks last Saturday as a result of a blood clot that developed following surgery for the aforementioned hip.

Waltman told Meltzer that Hall fell at home and was unable to move, nor get to a phone to call for help. Several days later, friends asked Page to check on Hall as they couldn't get in touch with him which resulted in Page then finding him and getting him to the hospital.

Waltman also said that Hall's condition had deteriorated badly due to drinking brought on by two years of pandemic-related isolation.

“The pandemic did him in,” said Waltman. “It was hard enough for him as it was, but he was isolated in his house with no social interaction. He was down to 210 pounds. We called Dally (Dallas Page) and he went over. It was really bad."

Waltman said in February, he offered to stay with Hall because of his worsening condition.

Meltzer reported that Hall had been in rough shape the night before last year's nWo Hall of Fame induction at WrestleMania 37 as he had passed out in the bar the night before.

"While the story the public thought was that he had horrible drinking issues, but through working with Page, he had licked it and turned things around. And according to Waltman, there were times that was at least close to being the case. But things got really bad over the last two years," Meltzer wrote.

In talking about Hall, Waltman also told a story of how Hall tutored wrestlers he saw a future in on how to go above and beyond in interacting with fans. One of those fans was current AEW roster member Powerhouse Hobbs.

That's very sad that he was injured for days until Page did a wellness check.
