Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is more than the sum of its parts. Those parts include the woeful performance and optimization problems, which are a real drag – but much of the rest of the title soars so high that it does go a long way to make one ignore them, after a fashion.

Whilst there's still stumbling missteps as Game Freak try to find their footing in the future of Pokémon, Scarlet and Violet is an endearing, and enjoyable attempt at a fundamentally different Pokémon experience. Despite my frustrations with its structure, mechanics, and the fact that it looks and runs like a middling GameCube game most of the time (there were several instances, even outside of the open-world areas, where character animations would drop to near stop-motion levels of movement), I still left Scarlet and Violet enamored by its character relationships and neatly tied-up themes of finding one’s own joy in the big, wild Pokémon world.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet bring some innovative ideas to the series and freshen it up slightly, with new features that are certainly worthwhile. It's Nintendo's classic and successful formula, with the ninth generation being extremely interesting, with brand new Pokémon, new missions and ideas that are sure to "ring a bell" for hardcore gamers. Is this the next step that Game Freak has been waiting for? The answer is...sort of.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet takes the next step for the franchise thanks to the lush open world. Even the new Terastallizing mechanic is great fun, although it is kinda a reskin of an earlier mechanic. Amazing music and some smart design choises make it a game you can't miss. At least, that is what we would've said if the performance wasn't as bad as it is.

I'm sure the main issues will fixed in patches. The ugly graphics are here to stay though.

Compete against players around the world with the release of Scarlet & Violet—Paldea Evolved on Pokémon Trading Card Game Live.

Prepare to show off your Pokémon TCG skills to players everywhere when Pokémon Trading Card Game Live exits global beta and launches officially on June 8, 2023, at 10 a.m. PDT. This game is the latest way to experience the excitement of the Pokémon TCG, and its release date coincides with the newest Pokémon TCG expansion, Scarlet & Violet—Paldea Evolved. Look forward to this expansion including over 15 brand-new Pokémon ex, including Chien-Pao ex, Ting-Lu ex, and more!

To celebrate the end of the global beta and the official launch of Pokémon TCG Live, a special global beta-themed cosmetic set featuring a coin, deck box, and card sleeves will be available to players who log in to Pokémon TCG Live between May 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. PDT, and June 6, 2023, at 10 a.m. PDT. You can still complete levels in the current Battle Pass and earn rewards until June 8, 2023, so there's no better time to log in to Pokémon TCG Live.

Dear Pokémon TCG fans,

At the end of January, we announced that digital Pokémon TCG products launched after March 1 would no longer be supported in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Online to help ensure that development resources are dedicated to making Pokémon TCG Live the best experience possible for players. On June 5, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. PDT, the Pokémon TCG Online will be removed from the App Store, Google Play, and Pokemon.com and game servers will be shut down.

The Development Team is grateful for all the community's support of this game. Witnessing your contributions throughout the years shows how strong and invested the digital Pokémon TCG community is. This passion has flourished with new and old players alike, and we cannot wait to see this community continue to grow with Pokémon TCG Live.

We're excited to announce that on June 8, 2023, the Pokémon TCG Live game will officially launch. To celebrate our community and the end of global beta, any player who logs in to Pokémon TCG Live between May 2, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. PDT through June 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. PDT will receive a special gift that includes a unique global beta coin, deck box, and card sleeves.

With these dates announced, it's important to note that players can still migrate their accounts even after the servers have been shut down. There's currently no assigned cutoff date for migrating your account and collection. Should that change, we will update the community in advance of any final migration cutoff.
