Jake Hager should win Most Improved 2022 in the Observer Awards. Jericho got him over this year and he improved on promos.

I can't imagine The Elite trolling Punk without something on the table down the line. An Elite and Hangman v Punk and friends (FTR and maybe Danhausen in his new more darker gimmick) Blood and Guts match would be money.

Kenny turning the match into a troll on Chicago was great television. Punk was also making jokes about the incident on commentary on that MMA show last weekend so maybe they're lightening up about it. But even if they do Punk is still going to be out until the summer with his arm, and who knows about Hangman's recovery.

It's maybe big enough a story to last til Summer or beyond. Just have each side build it up and it seems the Observer site has a story up already saying people close to Punk aren't happy about the trolling.

It makes most sense for them to be all be on board with it too as it could be a huge drawing angle. There hasn't really been a real legit type story like this since Montreal and whilst the mainstream won't really pay attention, some lapsed fans might if they turn this into something big.

Say have Punk turn up to see MJF on the Von Erich movie set and get in a pull apart with Kenny and/or the Bucks. There's tons of great stories in the past they could use as examples not just from wrestling but MMA/boxing etc where fighters have ramped up interest in the fights. Wrestling can take that to the nth degree and really make a spectacle of it.

The Jericho one was funny since he wasn't in character as a few of Hey Ews don't hit because they don't get what he's doing. RJs got an almost Bobby Heenanesque grasp for comedy which AEW should tap into. Have him on the announce table winding up Excalibur and rooting for the heels.

William Regal going is weird since he reportedly had a four year contract?. Unless there was an escape clause of some sort within it if he wasn't happy there, or maybe he wanted a release and Tony granted it. I heard on one of the F4W YouTube shows about him being unhappy about the immaturity of management or words to that affect.

Seems since Cody left there's been a lot of issues backstage. They could have existed before and Dave & co didn't report on them or there's instigator(s) there who are creating problem(s). If the wrestlers are pissed then they will want to go and WWE isn't the bad place it was touted as being no more with Hunter in charge. Plus I think a lot of ex NXT will go back which isn't really a problem if AEW works out excursion deals and brings in wrestlers from NOAH, AAA, DDT, New Japan etc and send under utilised wrestlers on excursion too.

This is why you don't let a fan write and run a wrestling promotion. He wants to own it, fine. Oversee it ok? Day to day writing/booking and administering? Nope.

So many of AEW's problems come down to 'Tony Khan'

The funny thing is, a lot of the guys that go back to WWE will end up having the same problem they have in AEW. They'll get a big pop on their return and then will be back down in the midcard or lower due to the amount of people WWE have.

I don't know why you're mad at him. AEW is still the best promotion on TV. Yeah, he's made some fuck ups, but that's how you learn. You don't think young Vince, Heyman, Bischoff, etc. had issues too? He's, what, 3 or 4 years in. He's going to get jaded and be like all the other promoters soon enough.

Being a fan also led to some good things that he does because he cares. No reason to bury the guy like he's just a mark.
