Just got the box set of “Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em”. Funny stuff from the seventies but still good.

It's one of the comedies which still holds up really well today. Michael Crawford is hilarious in it, he did his own stunts and co-wrote the show too.

He also made a Sport Relief special in 2016 where at the age of 74 he did all his own stunts again.

JB had a buy one get one free bluray sale recently (During the BG outage) The sale included box sets and UHD's so I couldn't resist:
Back to the Future Trilogy 4K UHD Box set.
Ghostbusters 1,2, Afterlife Trilogy 4K UHD box set.
I so nearly got the Matrix box set on 4K instead of Ghostbusters, but it was missing the Animatrix so I deemed the whole set completely worthless (still haven't seen the new one either).

Quite disappointing transfers of Ghostbusters 1 and 2 to 4K. There's so much grain it's not even too much better than the DVD's let alone the standard blu rays on a 43" TV. Afterlife looks phenomenal though, and that's the main thing... Support the movie so they know to make more.

Back to the Future on the other hand. Whoa! They really cleaned this place up, looks brand new.
I was quite happy with my normal crappy Full HD blurays of the trilogy from 2010, even when the interior scenes still looked a little rough. And I remained quite happy with the normal blurays Till I saw BTTF1 on this 4K disc. They've once again done great work cleaning up the picture, and removing even more grain and jagged edges. Aside from releasing 8K remasters in another 12 years, I really don't see how they're going to improve home releases much more... They've just put so much effort into making BTTF look great since the 25th anniversary.

Even on my small 43" 4K TV (budget model with no HDR and not properly calibrated) the movie looked so much better than the old discs.
Packaging on the new set is a bit crap, just a flimsy cardboard sleeve over 3 standard plastic cases, but since I have the beautiful old 2010 set with it's beautiful thick cardboard, beautiful artwork and booklet, beautiful lenticular cover and beautiful autographs from Jennifer and Doc, I'll be keeping that box and plomping the new 4K discs in there instead assuming they've 2 and 3 look equally as good. I might even run some tests to see if the new normal blurays, are better than the old normal blu rays, because if so, that's a huge win!

For anyone who doesn't buy discs anymore, most 4K sets come with bog standard blurays as well.

And yes, I know using discs is old school and expensive, but optical discs can provide bitrates that even the best 4K streams can only dream about.

House - The Complete Collection [Blu-ray], was restocking the DVD/BD shelves & what I thought at first was the DVD turned out to be the Blu-Ray so I snagged it, nice perk of working in the charity shop is I can get at thinks first a lot of the time.
Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) [Blu-ray]
Pokémon Detective Pikachu [Blu-ray] (amazingly with the Pikachu card still in it)
The Complete Bagpus [DVD] right in the nostalgias
The Day the Earth Stood Still [DVD]
Sapphire and Steel: The Complete Series [DVD]

The Blues Brothers 4K UHD.
South Park season 24 DVD (2 specials).

Went to watch Blues brothers recently and my rip was too shit for my TV.
And south park is just a force of habit, I've got them all so far and even though this has no special features and is streaming I am happy to buy physical media of good things when provided.

Blu-Ray
Neon Genesis Evangelion Zavi exclusive version, picked up from ebay as its out of print, nice box set
Then took advantage of the sale over at All The Anime
Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory: Blu-ray + Audio Dramas Collector's Edition (was only a fiver more than the standard release)
Christmas Sale 2022: "Green" Blu-ray Mystery Box
Christmas Sale 2022: "Blue" Blu-ray Mystery Box. Each box has 5 releases in so it got me
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish - Blu-ray+CD Collector's Edition
My-HiME Collector's Edition Blu-ray
El-Hazard -The Magnificent World- OVAs 1+2 Collector's Edition Blu-ray
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection - Blu-ray/DVD/CD Collector's Edition (shame it didnt include the series as well)
Kakegurui Season 1 Collector's Edition Blu-ray (with exclusive bonus playing card set)
Boogiepop Phantom Collector's Edition Blu-ray
Promare - Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook
Then 3 that turned out to be sub only, shame as the first 2 look like they'd be good if I could still read subs
Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon - Collector's Edition Blu-ray
Big Order - Collector's Edition Blu-ray
On-Gaku: Our Sound - Blu-ray/DVD Collector's Edition
Not entirely sure if they do add up to the £240+ they say for each box but the ones that look interesting do add up to more than the box's cost of £45, still awaiting my mystery box from Anime-on-line, 40 quid for a £190 bundle with no half sets accordng to the site
Away from the anime recent pickups I can recal
Minions: The Rise of Gru
Red Sonja

South Park post covid specials on DVD. I wasn't expecting a new release so soon (season 24 only came out like 2 months ago)
Once again missing the commentary... I really miss having the mini commentaries.

I was just going to buy it, but the girl at JB said it was buy one get one free on TV, so I grabbed Family Guy 20 greatest hits (musical number episodes) I am not interested in the show at all after the first 3 seasons, but it will make a good birthday present.

Weird: The Al Yankovic Story on 4K Bluray.
Cocaine Bear on regular Bluray because I couldn't see a 4K one.

JB have a buy one get one free on 4K and Bluray untill May 31.

$35 for a single movie is a little steep, but $35 for 2 great movies is a good price, roughly equal to a movie ticket.

I only bought them both because Weird Al said it was ok to pirate his movie since they didn't release it here at the same time as the rest of the world... I'm happy to buy his stuff, but fucked if I'm going to wait for it.

I paid a similar price, a little bit more.

It's not that easy to find in Australia anymore, so grabbed a copy before the prices of it rise.

That was one of the first blurays I owned.

Don't think I still have it, but I'm holding out for a 4K Mel Brooks film collection box set.

Grandma's Boy DVD (Sealed!)
Happy Gilmore DVD (With a booklet I never had)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off DVD

Four years later, I discovered last week that laundry soap had leaked all over my teenage DVD and video game collection. My disc of Ocarina of Time/Master Quest for Gamecube will never be the same, but it smells great! Laundry soap is a great solvent for inks. :olol:
