Can we keep things civil, please. I just come here to relax. I will attempt to tone down the nerdisms that are found to be so offensive. Might we all just be respectful of one another. I apologize if I have offended you in any way: I assure you that this was never my intention.

Same with Subbuteo, you could buy the different teams and have like stands etc. I think things like Scalextric are a cool hobby to have since there's like a lot of customizable stuff you can do. I looked into the digital cars and found this video

I have that dunlpp bridge :olol:

And yeah, I'm looking into some pretty awesome software at the moment to make things really detailed.

That sounds cool, is it possible to hook them up to a laptop or PC and have it program the cars, like to go around the track so many times, at a certain speed etc. Or do they just record track times etc?

The advanced power base in the platinum set lets you set pacer cars that go around at a speed you set, you can also program them to start when you do, and compete in the same race. The really advanced stuff happens with a PC. you can set pit stops and times, fuel burns, best laps, drivers, cars, split times, different race types, yellow flag and safety car stuff.
Etc etc.

I'm gonna settle on a permanent track, then get into that when the track is all good to go.

That does sound cool, this site does custom tracks but they are expensive

http://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/scale ... Gwoda8wEVg

I'd like to see like a mini F1 setup with a nice set like with the dunlop bridge accessories and stuff. I had one set with lights on the cars years ago that lit up, think it was like a nighttime racing one or something similar. They also do digital trains

I actually bought some cool lane changing corners from Jadlam (they've been discontinued for about 5 years, so when I found new stock I jumped on them) And am going back on their ebay to get some more boarders and barriers etc. I paid about $300 for all the tracks and barriers I got from them including postage, which was pretty cheap really (thank you weak pound!!)

And I can't afford model trains at all.. if you think 2000 pounds for a slot car setup is a lot, you should talk to train enthusiasts.
I know several people who'll spend 2 grand on a single HO locomotive :oshocked:
My limit with trains was about $1600 for a REALLY nice set which I split the cost with my brothers

Yea trains can be super expensive, but I think there's a market there for collectors and some rare ones I imagine are highly sought after so it's a win-win situation where if someone pays a lot they would get it back or more if they sold it. But there's always a premium price for any form of top end collecting. I think the key is to make the introductory set(s) at an affordable price and go from there so if somebody is into customising they can buy the accessories etc.

My mighty Metro:

Metro came in a pack with an RS200:

Pissed off that these cars don't have lights, most of the limited car sets do, but I got the set for $80, so not too bad.

My oldest, but favourite car:
Image
Needs new rear tyres and a digital Chip installed, but I'll get to it one day.

Caterham:
Image
Which will be hard to physically fit a chip in, I'll have to find a way though.

One of my three Mclaren P1's:

one of my 4 MP4-12C's:

1986 Audi Sport Quattro S1:
Image
Absolutely exquisite model (along with the lancia Delta it came with) I really hope it has lights, I need to fit a digital chip to see.

Awsome model right here 1986 Lancia Delta S4:

This car is so beautiful I almost don't want to drive it, I really want this quality of model in a 1976 lancia stratos alitalia:

The caterham was the cheapest single car at $50.
The Mclaren F1 was $64 with post
The most expensive single car was the Green P1 at $75
And the Audi, Lancia set, as well as being hard to find, was $145.

Normally I won't pay more than $120 for a 2 car set, but they looked so nice I had to get them.

I still have to work out a track design, But I do know how my pit lane will look:
Image
That middle building will be another pit garage when I put it all together.
I just need one more pack of single lane straights.

Team Marlboro Mclaren pits:

And the Audi pits:

I also am toying with an Idea to make a SEMI permanent layout that can be broken down quickly and easily.

I have more pics of the Lancia (it is a twin pack) but they're on a drive that isn't plugged in right now.

I'll put some new cars up, and change the thread name I guess since it's not new anymore.
