About a month or so ago we noticed there was a lump on Bexley's back leg, right on the joint. It wasn't hard, it felt like fluid. We took him to the vet and they did a blood test while we were there. They seemed pretty confident it wasn't much and drained a good chunk of it while we were there. They gave us some meds for him and that was that. He finished the meds and then a week or so later we noticed it was filled with fluid again but it looked like more this time. So we took him to the vet today and apparently there's some rare cancer that they're treating in another dog showing basically all the same symptoms.
We had him booked in for this coming Monday but a more experienced vet wants to do it because it's apparently pretty complex and hard to spot. Because of both of our work schedule and the vet schedule we can't get him in until the first week of July. So now I have to wait about 2 weeks to find out if my dog has fucking cancer. If he does, he'll probably lose the leg too. He's not even 5. We got him after I had to put down my Shepherd with the brain tumour.

That second picture is great. I hope he makes it through okay.
That's the face he pulls when you scratch him juuuuust right
I managed to snag a day off next Thursday and the missus the day after. So right now I'll take him to the vet on Thursday, drop him off for surgery then pick him up and the misssus will look after him on the Friday.
The problem is he's still relatively young and all this is bringing up the memories of what I had to deal with for so long with my German Shepherd, so I was a mess. Ended up leaving work early because I couldn't deal. Now to wait for the surgery and see what the fuck is going on.
Well, I took him to the vet this morning. He's currently in surgery right now. Hopefully it's something straight forward they can just take care of. They are sending off a biopsy and doing a bunch of tests. Today is going to cost me well over $2000. I'm hoping I get the best result back from this and no further surgery is required. The money isn't the biggest issue, his well-being and getting time off work to deal with it is.
The real shit part is we won't know the details of the tests for at least a week, if not more. If they can't pinpoint the cause today, it's going to be a stressful week. If they can see the issue and it's something they can fix today, that will give me some peace of mind until the results come back.
I don't even want to think about what it will cost if they have to remove anything else, or possibly his leg.
A good chunk of the cost today is the testing but even still, it's so expensive. I'm just lucky I have pet insurance because we get so much back per claim, I think it's about 80% or so
