Greetings Futurama fans, welcome to the Blueguerilla Futurama thread.
Can we take a moment to appreciate the brilliance of one of the most beloved animated series of all time - Futurama?
First and foremost, let's talk about the incredible storytelling. Futurama is a masterclass in blending humor, science fiction, and heartwarming moments. The writers and creators managed to strike a perfect balance between laugh-out-loud comedy and poignant, thought-provoking narratives. From exploring existential themes to tackling social issues, Futurama never shied away from pushing boundaries, all while delivering memorable characters and unforgettable episodes.
Speaking of characters, where do I even begin? The diverse cast of Futurama is a testament to the show's creativity and depth. From the lovably inept yet endearing Fry, to the fiercely independent and badass Leela, and of course, the delightfully diabolical Bender, each character brings their own quirks and charm to the table. And let's not forget the supporting characters like Professor Farnsworth, Zoidberg, and the delightful robot duo of Amy and Hermes. The ensemble is a perfect blend of eccentricity, relatability, and enduring appeal.
One of the most impressive aspects of Futurama is its ability to seamlessly blend humor with genuinely touching moments. The show manages to tackle complex emotions, exploring themes of love, friendship, loss, and identity in a way that leaves a lasting impact. It's not afraid to delve into the bittersweet and heartwrenching, all while wrapping it up in a humorous package. The episode "Jurassic Bark" stands out as a prime example, evoking tears from even the most stoic viewers.
Furthermore, the show's attention to detail and its vast array of pop culture references is simply astounding. Whether it's a playful jab at Star Trek or a clever nod to classic science fiction literature, Futurama delights in its ability to seamlessly incorporate these references into its narrative. It rewards its dedicated fanbase with hidden Easter eggs and clever wordplay that keep us coming back for more.
Although the series concluded in 2013, the legacy of Futurama continues to thrive in the hearts of its dedicated fans. Countless memes, fan art, and merchandise keep the flame burning bright, proving that its impact is far from forgotten. And who knows, perhaps the ever-changing landscape of television might one day bring us back to the world of Planet Express for more adventures in the future.
In conclusion, let's raise a glass to Matt Groening, David X. Cohen, and the talented team behind Futurama for gifting us with a show that transcends time and space. It's a testament to the power of animated storytelling and serves as a constant reminder that the future, even in its most absurd and hilarious form, can teach us valuable lessons about the present. So, fellow fans, let's celebrate the brilliance of Futurama and keep the spirit of this extraordinary show alive!
What are your favorite moments, characters, or episodes from Futurama? Let's share our love for this remarkable series!

Re: Futurama Thread ft hookers, blackjack and ian
Yes, I wrote that! It wasn't ChatGPT. No way!

- Hidden Alien Language: Throughout the series, the show creators incorporated an alien language known as "Alienese" into various backgrounds, signs, and even the opening credits. These symbols can be decoded, and many of them contain humorous messages or references.
- NASA References: Futurama has a strong connection to real-world space exploration. The show's writers consulted with NASA scientists and engineers, and many of the characters' names are references to actual astronauts and scientists, such as Turanga Leela (named after Turanga Leela, a fictional planet in the novel "The Brain of Morbius") and Professor Farnsworth (named after Philo Farnsworth, one of the inventors of television).
- "Roswell That Ends Well" Time Travel Paradox: The episode "Roswell That Ends Well" features the crew traveling back in time to Roswell, New Mexico in 1947. In a time travel paradox, Fry becomes his own grandfather, which is humorously explained in the episode.
- Renewal by DVD Sales: Futurama experienced several cancellations and renewals throughout its run. After being canceled by Fox, the show's strong DVD sales and popularity in reruns on Adult Swim played a significant role in its eventual revival.
- Mathematical Equations: Futurama has a reputation for its mathematical references and jokes. The show's writers included complex mathematical equations and theories in the background, often as humorous Easter eggs for the mathematically inclined viewers.
- Original Voice Cast: The majority of the voice cast for Futurama consists of actors who originally auditioned for the show's characters. Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, and Maurice LaMarche all landed their respective roles in the initial auditions.
- Influence of "The Simpsons": As both shows were created by Matt Groening, Futurama contains numerous references and crossovers with "The Simpsons." Characters from both shows have made appearances on each other's series, including Bender appearing in a Simpsons episode and Fry, Leela, and Professor Farnsworth appearing in a crossover episode of The Simpsons.
- Real-Life Science Predictions: Futurama has made several accurate predictions about future technology and scientific advancements. Examples include the concept of a touchscreen smartphone (similar to the iPhone), video calling, and even the discovery of a new mathematical theorem known as the "Futurama theorem."
- Relationship with "Star Trek": Futurama pays homage to the Star Trek franchise in various episodes. The original Star Trek cast members William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and George Takei have all provided guest voices for Futurama characters.
- Comic Book Origins: Before it became an animated series, Futurama started as a comic book. Matt Groening and David X. Cohen initially developed the concept in comic book form, which eventually caught the attention of television executives and led to the creation of the beloved animated series.

You should have written it yourself and not got AI to do it, you wouldn't have made several mistakes, because Zoidberg doesn't make mistakes! Now pick a mouth, open it and say dididididih!
I'm not going to point out all the errors except for one part in particular I take offence to:
"Hidden Alien Language: Throughout the series, the show creators incorporated an alien language known as "Alienese" into various backgrounds, signs, and even the opening credits. These symbols can be decoded, and many of them contain humorous messages or references"
This is blatant misinformation. The show actually had MULTIPLE alien languages, after the first was translated too quickly by eagle-eyed nerdlingers, there was a second one that was even harder to decode. (Not even I could work out the second one without help)
Don't quote me Futurama! I co chaired the committee that reviewed the recommendation to revise the color of the book that Futurama quotes are in... WE KEPT IT GRAY!
Also, we already have a Futurama thread.
They say he's the greatest!

Re: Futurama Thread ft hookers, blackjack and ian
I got Disney plus on Monday (it's on Disney plus in Australia since we don't have hulu) and I got Disney plus specifically and only for Futurama, but I can't bring myself to watch it.
I've said goodbye to my single favourite piece of entertainment ever conceived too many fucking times now to do it again.
Futurama has "ended" 4 times... That's enough. I can't take it anymore.
At least when it gets cancelled again in 3 minutes from now, I haven't wasted any time loving it this time...
I've forgotten more about about Futurama since it started than the entire rest of the world and every AI combined will ever know, but even I have limits.
Maybe if it lasts 3-7 seasons on this 354th revival I'll binge it, but I simply can't and won't get into it again when I'm just counting the days untill it's axed because it's not popular enough.
Each time I've ever taken a step onto the rug that is Futurama it's been violently fucking yanked from under me just as I was starting to get comfortable and enjoy the rug.
I actually might use my subscription to catch up on the years of the Simpsons that became entirely irrelevant the very instant Futurama first aired. Because at least if the Simpsons ends, WHO CARES?
