1. We don’t know what the Sonic 3 music will be.
2. That DLC chart is a mess and why is there DLC for 30 year old games anyway?
3. $45 for games that have been re-released a dozen times now feels too expensive.
100 percent.

I'm on the fence about whether I need to buy this. The missions sound cool, but the weirdo DLC coin BS sounds awful. If the original S3 music isn't in this, that's almost a no-go for me unless the Steam version can be hacked.

And that’s actually the thing that’s worse than any of my other points I made: we don’t know if it’s good, but we don’t get the DLC for free unless we preorder. If we wait on it, we will have to pay extra for it later if it is good. But if we preorder, we are stuck if it sucks because it’s digital only.

Its been a while so I thought I'd have another stab at modding my MD mini with hakchi, still hangs endlessly suggesting maybe the firewalls in the way but its greenlot in everything I can see to allow it to work so I dunno whats going on, do you have to use a throwaway virtual machine to get it up & running or something? as I dont wanna tirn off my security software for obviously reasons

So Sega's big announcement is not a Dreamcast Mini.

Sega has announced a Mega Drive Mini 2, including Mega CD games

The new mini console will be based on the redesigned Mega Drive / Genesis and will also have CD games

Sega has announced its next mini console, which will be based on the Mega Drive 2.

The Mega Drive Mini 2 will include 50 Mega Drive and Mega CD titles, including arcade ports and what Sega describes as a “mysterious new work”.

The console was announced during a Japanese Sega live stream, which at the time of writing is still ongoing.

The list of games confirmed for the console so far is as follows:

Silpheed (Mega CD)
Shining Force CD (Mega CD)
Sonic CD (Mega CD)
Mansion of Hidden Souls (Mega CD)
Popful Mail (Mega CD)
Virtua Racing (Mega Drive)
Bonanza Bros (Mega Drive)
Shining in the Darkness (Mega Drive)
Thunder Force IV (Mega Drive)
Magical Taruruto (Mega Drive)
Fantasy Zone (new Mega Drive port)

The original Fantasy Zone was never released on the Mega Drive. The version on the Mega Drive 2 Mini is a new Mega Drive port based on its sequel, Super Fantasy Zone.

The Mega Drive Mini 2 will be released on October 27 in Japan and will cost ¥9,980 ($75). Sega has yet to confirm a western release.

The first Mega Drive Mini was released in 2019 and included 42 games, with the libraries differing per region. It included new ports of Darius and Tetris, which had never been released before.

Sega teased the announcement last week with a photo of a chocolate cake shaped like a Mega Drive / Genesis controller.

Yosuke Okunari, who co-hosted the Mega Drive Mini 2 announcement, suggested in October 2020 that Sega’s next mini console could have been based on the Sega Dreamcast.

In an interview with Famitsu magazine following the Japan-only release of the Game Gear Mini, Okunari said he wanted the next project to deliver hardware that had stronger global potential.

“I think for the next one, we may go with a concept close to the Mega Drive Mini,” he said. “If I have to say some names, it could be an SG-1000 Mini or a Dreamcast Mini.”

wonder if it'll be easy to mod, feels like I got one of the only unmodable versions of the first one, also wonder if any magic mushroom games will make it, though as Sega of Japan were against it as a hardware option probably not

Were there seriously rumours about a mini DC? We've all known for years it'll never happen:

https://hard-drive.net/no-dreamcast-cla ... irst-time/

Why would they make a mini console of a real one that sold 7 units worldwide when they could sell a mega drive for the 70th time to the 100 million people that had one for a fraction of the cost to manufacture?

A DC Mini will never happen. Give it up.

It will happen. When a SoC and storage become cheaper.
