In this video I'm talking all about a 1980's South Korean Super Mario clone series called Super Boy.

This was a positively STRANGE series created by a company called Zemina. It was released for the obscure Korean-exclusive Zemmix game console. (Really the MSX computer platform) I talk about the history of Zemina - the company that produced Super Boy, and then lightly review each of the 4 games in the series!

Picked up some Dell UltraSharp 2007FPb 20" monitors recently for VHS and other low quality/non widesceen content consumption.

Found out people use them for 1up arcade machines, so I checked em out.

Turns out the ones I grabbed are the IPS variety, so I played some arcade games to see if they're actually worth playing arcade games on.

While the colours, blacks, power consumption, space requirements, and ease of use and configuration are all worlds ahead, and as far as I can make out, the refresh rate is basically identical to the naked eye.
I still think I'll take the CRT simply because the harsh edges get softened to make the games look higher resolution than they actually are.
Soul Calibur and Crazy Taxi are both fast paced games, and the dell LCD's held up amazingly well side by side with a real good CRT of a similar size (19" Philips) but the weapon movement just looks rough without scanlanes to hide the limitations of older games, and the further back the 90s you go the more the games look less beautiful.

BUT. When the last CRT is dead and no more will ever be able to be found, it's good that LCD's exist to continue making the games look almost as smooth for next to nothing in terms of cost.

If I wasn't so familiar with Soul Calibur and Crazy Taxi and CRTs, I doubt I'd even care about some jagged edges to have better colours and better blacks and not being able to tell the difference in response time between the real thing, and a late model LCD. And if I didn't already have a small pile of CRTs (down to 3 TVs and 3 monitors) I would be over the moon to have these LCDs to play old games on
