BBL Rogers runout

Post by 2dr »

If anybody watches the Big Bash League, perhaps you could explain something to me. In the final over Rogers left his crease while the bowler was making his delivery. The bowler stopped and took the bails off with Rogers caught out of his crease. The umpire referred to the third umpire who returned the verdict of not out. Rogers was clearly caught two metres out of his crease.

Why is this not a wicket?

It's called mankad. Here's why it was not out:

You're allowed to take off when the ball has been bowled. Because the bowler had almost bowled it and then stopped, it's not out and a dead ball.

We have a cricket thread by the way.
