Re: The Music Charts Thread
An interesting UK top ten album chart this week.
There were 600 copies between Lana & Duran Duran. Elton was a couple of thousand ahead of Lana.
Elton & Lana entered at numbers 2 & 3 in Australia with Rüfüs Du Sol going in at #1.
Duran Duran were at 16, which is their highest position on the Australian charts since Seven & The Ragged Tiger got to #2 in 1983.
I think the Billboard charts are out tomorrow but apparently DD might not chart that well in the US due to low streaming numbers.

Some interesting new chart entries at numbers 36 and 37. Don't think you could two more different acts.

I never liked All I Want For Christmas Is You, but Last Christmas is alright. I doubt I'd feel the same way if I lived in the UK or worked retail, I'd hate them both.

I hate all Christmas music except Last Christmas, which is a good enough song to stand on its own. AIWFCIY is just a Phil Spector Christmas album knock off.

I love Last Christmas but don't care about the other Xmas songs. Seeing Mariah & the other Christmas songs chart every year interests me though.

I forgot to check the charts last week but it was all the usual Xmas stuff at or near the top. Number 5 in the UK was a bit different though.

Ladbaby ruined the Christmas #1. The formula is now "have an internet personality do a novelty song and say it's for charity".

The last 4 Xmas number 1s. I'm sure their run will end eventually.

WWF soundtracks used to sell so well Sony actually gave WWF a record label to sign real bands. They signed a few but never released anything. I'm sure every band sounded like Kid Rock because Vince loves him.

It ended up climbing up to number 10. It sold 1.21m copies in the US and 80k in Canada.

This was one of the bands WWF Records had
Then a few years later they had a hit with a song Rivers Cuomo wrote and clearly thought wasn't worth Weezer recording (back when he still wrote good songs, Weezer would definitely put this out now)
The other was some band called Neurotica that went nowhere and sounded like Sevendust.

Early '91 was an 80s hangover and kind of weird. The end of hair metal and The Simpsons had 3 hits.
